Does anyone else find themselves making the facial expression of the character they are drawing? It reminds me of how you open your mouth when feeding a baby. =)

It's something we all suddenly realize at some point

I do it all the time now I can't feel it anymore XD in a way it actually helps me feel my characters better for illustration and sometimes I find myself leaning or shifting a bit in my chair trying to mimic their poses too xD

I think most artist did this. The weird thing is, at some point, I did the facial expressions when I'm writing sometimes too. ^^;

Yeah, I always laugh when I realize I'm doing it, also sometimes other people pass by while I do it and I don't even notice.

Yep, no question about it XD

Though, I have to kinda catch myself when I'm trying to draw in public (be in on the train, wherever). It can end up for some weird convos XD

I think of this comic whenever I catch myself doing this. Which is pretty much every time a character does any expression that isn't this :neutral_face: on my drawing. xD

I do it mostly if I'm drawing someone with an angry expression but I do it with other ones too

Hah! I don't think I've noticed myself doing this. Maaaybe the kissy lips. But my characters so often are just wide-mouthed. XD
Not to mention my wife crashes my drawing party often, so she'd make fun of me a lot if she saw me doing that :smiley:

I do this ALL THE TIME. I also make the same facial expressions as the characters when I’m planning the drawings in my head, which means that sometimes I’ll just be sitting there doing nothing and then all of a sudden start making weird faces. Fortunately I don’t do that in public.

Also, as someone with a Lackadaisy icon, I’m legally obligated to post this comic: https://www.lackadaisycats.com/exhibit.php?exhibitid=4234

Hah, yeah I've definitely found myself pantomiming things while writing.

Yeah, because doing it helps me a lot to get the character's feeling, and it's much better when you have a mirror by your side :wink:

OMG yes! I thought I was the only one that did that, I'm just imagining being at school and making a bunch of weird faces with people walking by thinking I'm weird lol. I also tend to feel the same emotions as they do.

oh yeah its definitely some thing i do, for some reason my brain feels like i know what expression i want once i make the face, like a switch for some reason XD
and some of my characters do weird faces, just look at my avatar! haha

all the fricking time... one of the reasons why I hate it when people watch me draw haha
(same goes with reading, I'm a very expressive reader)
