Now, we're all creators here--we all love feedback, and all feedback is great! But for those who want to expose themselves a little bit... what's your favorite kind of feedback? :shook_01:

Do you like silly comments? Serious ones about the story itself? Critiques to help you improve your art/writing? Totally unrelated comments that have nothing to do with the story itself?!

I suppose I should expose myself first since I started this thread, so... I like to talk about my story (way too much, my friends would tell you...), so my favorites are those that comment on the story itself--even better if I can have a bit of a discussion. Fun comments are always great, too, and give me a good laugh or can make my day!

Personally, id rather have a discussion. some times it happens and sometimes not. I have a pretty decent amount of viewers and at times they engage with each other. I don't reply to all comments, I'd like to but due to lack of time. since i work full time and most times i am at work lol

Comments I like most are the ones related to the story itself. silly comments are nice to read and laugh at. but for someone to critique my work when it's not asked for is a no go zone. if I didn't ask for your opinion, don't give it. i know my flaws and I'm working on it on my own.

My favorites are silly/jokey comments and theories!

I also like when people actually respond to whatever I put in the author's note. It's nice to know some folks aren't just there for the comic and care what the creaor has to say... even if what I have to say is usually directly relating to the comic.

I feel weird about most compliments, unless they're highly specific and believable. And I don't like anything pervy, even if the art I've drawn is sexual in nature, which seems a little weird but it is what it is.

I always love shitpost comments or discussions the most, regardless of if I’m reading someone else’s comic comments or reading the comments on my own comic! I love seeing what kinds of theories people come up with for stuff ahaha

I like critiques so I can improve but typically only prefer them if I ask for them unless the person putting it worded it fine! If someone says they don’t understand something that helps me know to elaborate better on a certain part later...if someone just goes like “it suck” I’m just gonna ignore it because...that doesn’t help me Improve

Yea thats a known struggle lol. it sucks but i really believe that some people dont care.... lol

  1. I love when readers find some cryptic allusion I made, or influences I have.
I even had readers pointing out things I did not realize, but were clearly true.
I know some people are more annoyed by that, but I'm not, I love it, probably because I have so diverse influences, and it's always so vague and general, that I don't worry about the 'involuntary plagiarism' side of the issue.

  2. I like constructive criticism. Even if it's harsh, as long as there are no hidden motives behind it.

  3. I like any comment that shows the readers understand what I'm trying to do, but I also like comments giving different interpretations of what's going on! So I'd say that to this point, I like every comment I received. I don't remember ever getting any comment that made me feel uncomfortable.
The ones I like the less are super generic ones that may be copy-pasted. I don't mind them because it's rare.

I love reading most of them, they kinda show me how each person is experiencing the comic and I think that's the coolest thing <3

I think my faves would be whenever a person picks up some detail in the story, or makes up some kind of theory (it hasn't come to that point yet but I'm sure it will >:D). Anything that shows that the person is really engaged in the comic means the world to be, basically.

I love getting comments specifically about the story. I rarely have interaction on here that's not comic or writing-related one way or another, but it does happen. I like hearing my reader's theories about the story, and what they like about it. Even their confusion, if it's something I can help explain. I like constructive criticism too, like 'hey this aspect needs some work, but you really have this other one going for you', it's encouraging because you know that though you have room to improve, you aren't a completely terrible artist/writer.

Depends on the type of feedback/context. Regarding regular comments and such on my actual pages/comment sections, the type that I love the most are those that speculate what will happen next! Although posting 1-2 pages a week can definitely be a weakness (especially regarding the slooooow overall pace that the story moves as a result), some of my favorite interactions with my readers were scenes that had a few pages of build up to them, so on each one people would give their interpretation of where the build up was going. A few times even discussion among the readers themselves happend which is super neat~

When initially reading the title I thought this thread was more so about critical feedback specifically, and on that side of things I prefer when people don't hold punches and are constructive. When asking for feedback on how my writing or drawing is going, I don't want something sugar coated- I need a little grit to chew on and improve! Granted it's no good if the person is a jerk about it, but most people offering this type of feedback seem to fall in the other two categories- either too sweet/sugary, or just right and with some kick-ass advice~

I love when people comment their thoughts and frustrations towards a character's actions. As a novelist, I'm also very fond of people pointing out typos.

I like when people point out how I've characterized characters, or just how I've written/crafted my story. It lets me know I'm doing a good job and to keep on doing what I've been doing.

Particularly when they go into analyzing aspects of my story it makes me feel like I've created something worth analyzing.

I like any response that reminds me that a real person wrote it. Doesnt matter if it's a critique, complaint, or personal anecdote. As long as it's a personal interaction, it makes me happy that my art helps drive that connection.

I like when people ask questions. It tells me that they actually read my writing, and it also tells me that they are interested in knowing more about it.

I think I like it best when commenters interact with each other and theorize, about the characters or about what I as the author might do next. Even if their ideas are way off the mark, it's just nice to see that someone can hold an opinion about my work AND care enough to share it with another person.

This. Really any sort of comment that isn't straight up rude is good for me. Deep questions.. simple one word replies. The whole spectrum is good.

I also love comments on the story itself like what people think of what just happened or what might happen. The same with characters. It's just so fun to see readers going 'I want to hug this character! He's so precious!', then turn around and come up with methods of torture for somebody else

I love love love when a reader can comment on something that needs a full understanding of my universe.
Imagen that the hard work actually is understood by someone!

I love the ones that hurt my feelings. Feed me to the wolves lol. I don't need nice words.
