Hey! I am working on the cover for my next ebook. The general theme I'm going with one item (usually silver) to highlight as a magical artifact. What do you think of this cover? If you saw it, would it draw you in and make you want to know more?

It's a really nice cover. But at first glance with the title being The Museum, I wouldn't assume magical had anything to do with it. Maybe have something contrast against the black background. I do see some type of fog or mist surrounding this crown, perhaps thats mystical?

It's clean, unlike some other covers I've seen. I like the minimalist touches with the gilded "frame", but I would personally turn up the saturation for the crown in the middle to stand out more against the black background. I would also add some kind of a glow effect around the crown, but that's just part of my intrusive thoughts. The text could also do with some more saturation, but not too much. The crown should still be the centerpiece of the cover.

I can change the color of the smoke. Do you think that would help? It's hard to make the crown more "mystical". The gray/silver palette seemed like a nice contrast to book one. @Flios The text is usually this gold orange color.

I personally think this is more appealling.

This says: "More than just a museum."

This is the cover for book one and usually the image I use to brand the series with. There are two other pictures that fit into the series for the mirror image but they're more complicated and are beyond my ability to edit. Haha!

*Edit - Funnily enough about the magic mirror picture. Some people don't see "fairytale, magic mirror" and the obvious link to Snow White. Instead, they think "horror" and back away.

This is the same cover just with the gray smoke turned red.

Actually, I think the crowns are better than the mirrior but I don't know how you'd make the crown seem more "magical"

I get it. The mirror was a miracle find. It happens to fit perfectly with one of the story arcs in the series. When I was first trying to design my work, I got a ton of crap for my art. A former writing buddy used to heavily criticize my images because they didn't "capture" the essence of a magical museum.

Red version definitely pops more. Can you add a teensy bit more brightness or contrast to that Crown, and maybe to the leafy border so they'll pop out a little more when viewed at a small size on Tapas? Other than that, I think this is good to go. It looks great!
