The First Writers Camp will ended in several hours and we'll be sitting to wait for the winner announcement (which I hope they do better than the last contest and I'm sure as hell that I won't make it, lol), and I congratulates everyone that manage to reach the minimal amount of 10 chapters and 5000 words, so here's confetti
Right, back on track, I saw quite an amount of good stories in the submissions and subscribed to a whole bunch of stories (that, I haven't even begun to read yet) after checking the description one by one, and find out that several stories doesn't make it to the minimal of 10 chapters. It's a shame since some of it looks pretty good (based on the review on the forum).
But anyway, this camp is really something since it was the first (not) writers camp on Tapas, so there's bound to be some errors in the rule and whatnot, but I thanked the staff to make this event, since I'm a person with no motivation and my stories might not even able to see the light at all (with a whole binder full of my story idea, it's pretty impossible). If there's no contest like this, my submission would probably still laying on its paper idea for a long, long time before I manage to do something with it.
For that, thank you.
Now, let's talk about my works re-evaluation (challenge: do it in a fun or weird way) :
If I should talk about my story, I could only said its lacking some spices, plus the story need a long time to cook, until it's finally tender and the spices get absorbed into the meat, I mean, even after I wrote that far, they haven't really interacted with the supposed love interest or antagonist yet, I'm still in the middle of mixing the spices in the blender.
I might have made it too slow for the readers to get 'connected' with it and before its cooked properly, they already leaving for KFC than my not that good rendang which lacking some spice and take too much time to be finished.
I didn't intend to make it that slow, but I did ended up describing too much stuff that's doesn't need to be described because I don't want to contracted the white room syndrome, but in the end failed to do so since the spices ended up a little saltier than it's supposed to be.
I'm not that good of a writer (or in cooking too, to say), so it might ended up inedible when I finally manage to pass all the process and serve it on the plate.
(Are you confused? Me too. )
A. N. Y. W. A. Y.
My story is too slow and the grammar is pretty messy (especially the tenses, its killing me) and I need to go fort and back to several dictionaries and thesaurus to find the right words since I don't want everything to have the same word (example the word shocked. It have some variations, but not that much and the words sometimes seems silly to use in some occasion). I dont particularly know about the theme of my writings, so as I wrote I will go to the God gracious Mr. Google to find some answer. But not even the god know all of the answer I searched and it leave me completely frustrated. I don't even know where this story is going (but I have a clear idea about the climax and ending), not to mention it ended up having some part that's not supposed to be here and my brain making up connection from this story to my other story idea (so far there's two completely not connected story idea that ended up got mixed in it) but I'll try to write it up before it's getting too complicated (isn't it already?). I'm the type that would lost interest and motivation quickly, so this event is pretty much lifting my motivation to write (and along the way, my motivation to draw again).
What I learned from this event is that I need to engage more to get a reader (on tapas or the forum), research more and don't just write by impulse (which is impossible to change). I'm not able to follow my script (that I wrote 3 to 4 times already...), and its ended up going to the 'unpredicted' area. In the futute second writers camp (or when it's possible to get to the contest), I will have to make something that is not too slow since some peoples hate the kind of slow paced story I wrote. Plus, I need to erase the 'dark' theme that's involved with suicide and self harming etc, since my warning in the beginning might have scaring off the potential readers (lol).
My writing is bad, but I will try to finish it one day.
And to end it all, there's the shameless self-promotion from me :
Before you start, I would like to tell you to read the description or disclaimer first before you read it. It haven't gotten to the dangerous part yet (its gotta take some time), do its safe to read it before I put the NSFW chapters.
This is a long post...
Have a good day, and good luck with the contest!
