How do you give title for your comic?

I want to know some tip how everybody give title to their short and long comic. Did you give title for your comic first, then write script? or did you give title for your comic after finish your script? or you feel that you like giving this/that title?
whenever I try to give title for my script, I sometimes feel that it too long, too short, too simple, didn't fit with the story.... for me giving title for is seem difficult.
This is my first time making topic in Tapastic forum, pardon me if my English is bad.

I came up with my story first, and the title afterwards. It took me a long time to come up with it, because I found it hard to think of a title that would fit the whole story, and not just the first couple of chapters. Eventually - after a lot of hard thinking! - I settled on Grassblades. It's short, easy to remember, and fits on a cover, but still good enough to fit the story I'm telling.

If I want to get more creative, and give longer titles to things, I can always give different titles to the different chapters of the story.

Finding a good title can be hard, so I totally sympathise with you! It's easier for me to give titles to stories after I've finished some sort of script or outline for them; that way, I know what they're going to be about, and it's easier to find a title that fits.

I've heard that the best titles are four words or less. You don't want a title that's too long where people can't remember it. It seems most of my story titles are two words.

For me, I usually come up with a story first and while I'm scripting, the title will come to me. Though in one case, I decided to make a series of four books and I wanted all the titles to be similar so while I was writing for the first story, all four titles came to me at pretty much the same time. I then took the titles of the last three stories and developed plots around them.

Essentially you choose whatever title you can secure a decent domain name with.

Rather than squeezing out the title out of your script, it's best to look into the big idea of your story. You can use puns, idioms or some catchy phrases or sentences. Also consider your genre. If your story is more drama, look for words that has a dramatic feel to it. That's what I did to "Not yours, am I?" I could've just titled it "Am I not yours?" but with the first, I'm imagining a character who is on the verge of tears, suffering from unrequited love.

I guess it depends. Sometimes I concentrate on getting the story down, and then I don't think much about the title until I'm somewhat finished with the story, because some things might happen while I'm working on the story that would make an original idea for the title incorrect or just feel wrong. But that's when I'm working on a short story If I'm going to do something longer I might start out with the title, or just after writing a synopsis. This is just to have a project name (sort of like people becoming parents calling their unborn baby something that's not the real name) that makes me remember what I'm working on, what it's all about in the end.

I came up with the story first, the title evolved over time...like for R:ILPERSONA (shameless plug ^_^) I mashed up a few elements of the story to make up the title:

"R" for the name of the main character, RADE, "IL" which is the italian word for "the" and "PERSONA" which is latin for "mask". I had a few other titles over the years but I wanted to do something different and came up with this and I've just run with it it lol

also like scythe said, its a good idea to think about a website url while coming up with a title as well.

The title will come when it comes, before, after, in the middle... Dont force a title, let it come when it comes.

Thinking up titles is the hardest part for me. I always think of the story first and then the characters and lastly the title.
I try to pick short catchy words and blend them together. After deciding the best I survey my friends and ask them which is the best. Some of the other titles I had in mind was 'by the bay' 'sunsea' and 'solace' before finally Sundaze

I definitely thought about the title once I wrote the whole scenario.
Just to get one that fits the story!
Mine was a hard one.
It took me several months and several title lists to find Shades Of Men!

for my upcoming comic Hybrid it took a bit to think of a title. I mainly thought of the main character, and what she becomes: a hybrid. How it happens is the overly dramatic part. i even thought of other names for it, but Hybrid seemed to stick :3

A good way to develop a title is not to worry about it. Finish some of your story first and then have the title reflect something about the story. A good idea is to write down as many potential titles as possible and then choose the one that interests you just by looking at it.

I'm really bad at coming up with creative titles. Most of the time I end up using the protagonist's name/role as the title. If I'm lucky I might be able to use the theme of the story as the title.

You can't base your entire story around a title. Your title must be based on the story.

It can be difficult. You just have to know the premiss of your story, then you can name it after that. It's almost like naming a pet in a way lol. Think of something unique or quirky to get someone's attention. But know your characters, roughly what they're going through, then a name for your comic should appear. Hope this helps.

My comic didn't have a title for two years, I wrote it all out first and started illustrating three different times before I picked a title. I followed all of my friends around and tossed ideas at them non stop until like 8 or 9 really caught their attention. Then I begged them to vote on one, which they did. Then I was laying in bed and thought of a different title all together, and now my book is titled fugitive

I get most of mine from song lyrics. The title of my current project, Heroes for Ghosts comes from the lyrics of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here."
