How horrible is this?

I wonder how it would look if the tree cast a proper shadow on the ground, but if it was done with texture as others have said?

Not bad at all! I actually kind of like the coloring as it reminds me of some classic children's books, especially those of Maurice Sendak's.

Its not bad, BUT the sky could use some clouds or something. But the rest is pretty cool.

I think it could use some more texture in certain areas like on the grass for example, maybe work with other shades of green as well. That's just my two cents though.

This picture isn't bad at all, it looks pretty good. The background above the background seems a little empty. The cape is alos too stiff looking, you could look around on Youtube to find how to properly apply wind to your cloth.

Well it's just flat coloring coloring, so you can't go too wrong with that.

What do you want to accomplish with your coloring?

I think it is definitely better than 'horrible'. But since there's shadow extending backward for the character, I think you should do the same for the tree as well? But overall, I think it's alright.

The actual comic will be black and white. I might end up coloring it properly later, but I'd rather focus on the actual pages.

In all seriousness, it's perfectly fine. Although, I suspect that you know this yourself, and want reassurance from others. It's perfectly OK to want complements on your work. You put in blood, sweat, and tears, after all.

But I'm less likely to tell you so when you preface your posts with:

"I'm atrocious at coloring...well anyway I'd like to get your opinion on this."

If you catch my drift. Oh, and excellent coloring skills, by the way.
