How is Tapastic's community so...Nice?

Tapastic is like the cinnamon role of internet sites~ It's so nice here and I think it's because the community is smaller and close knit. I considered webtoons many times but after all I heard about it, erm I'd rather stay on tapastic haha. As someone who has experienced the dark times of tumblr... this place is like a sanctuary. If there were more features, this would be my main site no doubt. I really hope with all my heart that tapastic keeps this positive vibe. We could all use some positivity on the internet.

I have to agree it has to do with the newness. Almost no one in my friends circle knew about Tapastic, but they knew about LINE Webtoon. When I posted a comic with one page marked NSFW, a lot of my friends complained to me because they couldn't read it because they didn't have an account. XD I managed to convince some of them to get one.

I don't think Tapastic will end up like tumblr has, because whereas on tumblr you have lots of curators and reposters, Tapastic is focused upon original content, and people on here love original content. We also don't have an anonymous messaging system, and I'm thankful for that.

And also the design of the site! It's easy to use on desktop and the apps are super nice. And I love the font so much, I'm really tempted to use it for everything.

It's Century Gothic I think or something very similar. But it's true the font is super nice, CG is one of my favorite fonts so I fell in love with the site immediately xD

LINE does a lot of external advertising. I always see their ads on gaming sites and such. I wish Tapastic would do something like that -- but at the same time, maybe that would bring in the haters and trolls, which is the last thing we need. I hope that in the future, Tapastic will grow many times bigger than its current size, but for now, I'm very happy with what we have here. ❤︎

Yes I do think Tapastic is much more friendly, haven't seen many nasty comments and more importantly the site is much more active than several other sites. Also the nice thing is it's a place for originality, not sex and fan art like Deviant Art.

A lot of people have mentioned the big reasons like the lack of a ratings system, no anonymity, the lack of a dislike button, etc. and they're totally right =)
What I like about this site that's quite unique compared to sites like Deviantart and tumblr, is the acceptance of original content and styles! On Deviantart (event though there are popular artists there with unique styles) if you want to get popular starting out, you're better off with an Anime/Manga style (or drawing furries). I tried desperately on that site to build up a community of friends without having to change my "cartoony/disney" style with very few results.
Tumblr is more accepting of different styles, but they're way more into fanart/fancomics than anything else. It's so hard to talk to people there without a proper commenting system. They're tag system is great, but again it's for fanart.
Starting out on Tapastic, I was expecting not to do very well because my story is weird and I thought my style wouldn't be liked. I was totally wrong though! I had an unbelievably warm welcome and lots of compliments on the art style and weird story =') it's great finding like-minded people who make similar content too! I can't sing enough praises for this site. It really does feel like webcomic home!

No, me too, I really, really don't like the font they're using here. Poor readability compared to...a lot of other fonts. It's not Century Gothic, and it's definitely not Helvetica. Either of those would've been better. I've been trying to find out what font it is, but no luck! It looks a little bit like Twentieth Century, but there are still some differences. Increasing the size would help of course, but it's still not particularly good for longer text posts.

But the font is my biggest complaint about this site, which means there really isn't that much to complain about

i dont think so.
imho the main problem come from the prize.
here it s like to be in a showcase. sometimes we re put in the best spot, most of the time we re all in the same shelf. thats it. someone got a lot of follower, other less or more... but thats it.
on webtoons there isnt only this... because if u re on the top, u can win that or whatever. and this can create some situation that we all know...

if tomorrow tapastic would come with an announcement like:
"who get more vote win 1.000 bucks and ll be pubblished by XYZ"
well ...there ll be a bath of blood in less than an hour with fake votes like rain and flames over all the forum.

Yeah... Tapastic has kinda spoiled me. Everyone here is so positive and supportive. I started posting stuff to Reddit and am now remembering how brutal people on the internet can be, lol.

Oh my god I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who noticed this. I just started making webcomics and wanted to upload my stuff on LINE Webtoon but I stopped myself because the people there are just....vile. They argue for no reason. I mean I get it, some comics might not pique your interest, but there's really no reason to be hateful about it. Just move along to the next comic!

Though I don't really have a fan base here on Tapastic either, but I'd prefer to creep around here because I get a nice and warm feeling every time I read something.

First and foremost I think there is a good vibe spread by @STAFF , working very hard to keep it friendly, habitable and engaging with the users helps a lot to hold the line. And second, you don't want to be "that guy" if you see many others being positive it might feel wrong to be the opposite. Vibes are contagious, good and bad. I really enjoy being here - I've never felt comfortable in forums, it has just not been my kind of place to be in but tapastic is very different from any other forum I've ever seen.
