I think it's a pretty normal thing. I'm doing something similar in my story Second Lead Syndrome, a reverse harem from the POV of the harem guys. We love our happily ever afters, but sometimes it's more fun to see things that aren't just:
"Oh mister miss Main Character-nim-kun! I was sad, but now I'm not! All of my past trauma has magically disappeared, and you are my sole reason for existing now!" Sure, it can be done right, but even the same drink can taste stale after enough bottles.
Then, if you decide on adding romance later, there'll be a huge feeling of catharsis from the readers who just wanted your main character to be happy. I personally love slow burn romances over the super-hot-fire "in love after a chapter or two" romances, but you do what you think works! ^^
