Well don’t because i’m not a content creator for tapas right now, i’m probably not going to be at any point in 2024, and if i’m lucky i’ll post my first proper thing to tapas in early 2025, if i’m unlucky then late 2025 or 2026.
I deleted everything because my whole problem was trying to be a person that someone could potentially be a fan of, like creating things for other people to see and like when I can’t even draw hands.
If your goal is to create a webcomic, you have to sit down and draw it. Then when you are done, post it.
It's not like it's going to magically just happen by just doing nothing.
If you have given up (which I don't think you should), I think it might also be best to not make posts on the forums asking for advice or saying you are going to draw other people's comics. When you ask for advice, people come thinking that you might use it to make something. If you aren't going to do that, you are just wasting everyone's time and energy.
I am sorry if I come off as rude, but I feel like you have been doing these posts for over a year. If you had a full comic to read, I will sit down and read it. But after all this time you still have nothing.
I haven’t given up. I’m just not going to make my magnum opus when I can’t draw hands or shoes yet. Also I made the choice after making this thread.
And I can’t make a full comic if i’m not done with the script writing. And that’s going to take a long time. I’ve made the first draft of the first third so far and once i’m done with all of it the comic will take over 10 years to create in full.
Look man, not to be a dick, but I don't care.
You have half the forum, if not more, giving you advice and helping you for what seems like months now. But no amount of outside help is going to get you anywhere if you don't do something, anything yourself.
Truth be told, each time I see one of your threads appear on the forum I roll my eyes thinking "ugh, here we go again."
You wanna know how to draw a hand? Sit down, take a pen and a piece of paper and draw one. And you keep doing that, over and over and over and over until the hands you draw look good enough.
I know how to learn to draw a hand. I’ve practiced it before, and I’ll practice it again. I’m not whining about it.
I’m just saying why I’m doing other art things before my comic instead of doing a comic first. As in I need to get into practice and develop a better understanding of art stuff before I make a comic. This is what everyone was telling me before. And I’m doing it.
I don’t want draw the bad joke comic. I don’t know why I agreed to it. There are much better uses of my time, like the aforementioned hand practice or making a mini comic of something other than a bad joke involving my OCs.
@joannekwan can you close this thread? I changed my mind about it and it’s gotten off topic.
Because you were certain no one was going to call your bluff and give you something to draw when you posted this thread. Then it happened and you were in a corner.
Look, I've been fussing over a comic for a long time myself and I still haven't posted anything yet. I can't get on your ass for not having anything up yet.
But at least I'm working on it and getting closer each day. YOU are still looking for someone to do everything for you.
Shut up. Sit down. Get to work.
I was fully expecting someone to send something. Like a full script that i’d commit to and draw maybe one page of a week. Not a stock dad joke you got from a laffy taffy formatted like a 2000s gaming comic.
I’d already started drawing something else when you’d posted that joke script, and changed my mind about the existence of this thread. Do you actually want to see this thing drawn out? Like are you committed to this?
I’m fully committed to doing multiple projects before drawing my comic. I’ve started one already.
No one was going to do that.
You don't commit to your own stuff, you start things, oftentimes too many new things at once and get bored or tired after a few days or weeks.
Writing a script takes time. If someone's committed enough to a story to write a full script, they're not going to give it to the guy who is known on the forums for overcommitting and not finishing stuff. Having a manageable single-page short scene handed to you was actually the best thing you could hope for and probably the most adapted to your situation.
Like others have suggested, the forums aren't necessarily the place for you if you can't really manage expectations or understand when the question you're asking is going to get you the same tired answer. It's good you realised that you were making comics for unsustainable reasons like wanting fans, but now you've got to do the work to want to make a good comic for the sake of telling your story with the burning passion necessary to get you through years of daily tests. I wish you the best, but this sort of posting has to stop.
Currently, I think you need to practice drawing faster.
Several months ago I gave you the example of drawing a cat in one minute. The point of this exercise is not to create a masterpiece but to train your brain and hand to draw faster. Even if you are someone with a disability that effects your hands, this practice would still be helpful (that’s sort of what physical therapy does).
I think once you can get your art done faster, it might take off some of the pressure you are feeling.
From what I’m reading just don’t be afraid of what people think and sit your butt down and draw. I just do it because why the hell not! I don’t need anyone else’s validation. Seriously you’ve been taking probably so many threads over these past few months and it’s driving us all mad.
And it’s okay if your drawings aren’t good at first but if you keep practicing you’ll get better. That’s how I did it. Draw draw draw draw DRAAAAW!
