Uhhhh.... thinks back

Probably X-Men, back when I was 16-ish, and had consistent access to 'the computer' at home. (It was 1999.)

I think most of my early internet experiences were with the Powerpuff Girls (there's a PPG fanfic I remember reading way back in the early 2000s), but I think my first proper interactions with any sort of fandom was Pokémon. There's a Pokémon forum I used to troll around on, though thinking back on it makes me cringe, haha.

I was super into DBZ when I first started using the internet more but I was a bit too young to get involved with fandom stuff.

I think maybe the first one was Naruto. I used to use this defunkt site (it was sort of like DeviantArt but worse) I would look at other people's work and add my own. I was also fandom trash, because I was like 15.

Probably Doctor who lol, although I was never really active in any sort of fandom?

Probably Naruto. Also ATLA was on at the same time that I started getting really into the internet when I was 12/13 so I remember being involved in a couple ATLA forums as well as Naruto forums. I haven’t really been involved in any fandoms since I was in my teens though.

Pokémon has always been kind of a big thing, even before the internet, for me ^^ Sonic has also been really cool to me, but I was never really in a fandom for both of these franchises.

The first fandom I was active in, which was about 9 years ago, was Warrior Cats, I even wrote the weird first concept of my project in the fanfiction thread over there, but aside from that, I met some really cool people on that forum and had a genuinely good time. The sad part is that I‘m not really in contact with any people over there anymore, I just left one day because of school and my (then) newfound drawing hobby started to occupy my free time more and more :sweat_02:

Inuyasha was the first internet fandom I was in-- I used to participate in Inuyasha roleplays in Yahoo chatrooms back in 2003-ish (I was 11). Nowadays I'm in a Facebook fan group called "Inuyasha SITposting" lmao, still participating in the Kagome vs Kikyo debates :sob: :joy:

Neopets and Kirby. In fact, uh, too much Kirby, but it at least was a safe fandom to act absolutely stupid in. There was a bit of Pokémon too, but I always felt intimidated by the big forums, so I'd just join niche places and draw art whenever I felt like it.

I think it was Tokio Hotel back in 2007 or something haha. I started out writing self-inserts as that was very popular back then. After that, I mostly wrote original works and did some RP'ing with OC's with the same people that I used to write fanfics with, which was really cool and taught me a lot.

My very first fanfic gained a lot of traction and one of the people I met through it is gonna be at my wedding next week, I really made some great friends throughout it all.

Probably Naruto... I remember making amvs, crying on a forum about how bad our dub was, drawing fanarts and running a fanfick with my cousin in which Polish minister of education back at the time took over konoha and Naruto was tasked with overthrowing him (we were weird... xDD)

Yeah! It was Sonic The Hedgehog for me too.

There was a whole Knothole Village-themed AOL chatroom that I used to frequent back in the day (my fandom lapsed for a bit as I grew up, but my first comic definitely honors those roots). I've had a lot of fun going back and playing with those dynamics that were spun out of that world.

Oh man. X-Men had such a huge influence on me back in the '90s. Chris Claremont's storytelling mixed with Jim Lee's art was just breathtaking. I remember being a kid and ONLY having the issue where Omega Red wiped the floor with the X-Men and it scarred me for life (but in a wonderful way). Also, how they handled Morph in the cartoon (and set up stakes for a kid's cartoon) was simply excellent.

X-Men has a large place in my soul.

I'm not gonna lie, I had the biggest freaking crush on Nightcrawler for a while.
(I also tried cosplaying as Mystique once. Once. Don't color yourselves blue with a marker, kids...)

ok but

Who didn't?
it was either him, wolverine, or storm ngel
