Ok so its been forever since the last time i've shared artwork of mine to anybody or anything...

But the question that constantly floats in my head is the notion of
" is this even any good?" "Who will wanna read such an odd 'story' topped with THIS looking back at 'em?"

And today it barely crossed my mind that maybe i should whip up something for some preliminary critiquing😅😪 So what will you forum-goers have to say about this travesty?

This is what I envision for my upcoming "longform" comic in terms of the "art style" Nothing more ,nothing less. As it is... Would you say yes? or HELL TO THE FUDGEN no? Please be critical, but reasonable like, really. Thanks in advance.

I think it looks fine! I think style is something that really develops overtime and sort of can only be fleshed out by simply doing? Haha, like I'm sure if you keep making comics that a year from now, your style will have evolved to work for you - you'll have a better understanding of what works for you in terms of design, what kinds of lines work well with each other, and best of all, what you're comfortable with drawing.

I'd say don't fret over the rest, just make comics that you'd enjoy and draw things that you enjoy drawing in the way that makes you excited to draw the new panel. smile

Looks perfectly fine to me! In my opinion, there's no "good enough" to start a webcomic. You simply just start! One of the beauties of webcomics is when your skill and style develop over time, and along the way it's nice to look back at how much you've improved. Even in months time, I myself am able to look back when I first started a few months ago and appreciate my improvement. Just have fun and keep on keepin' on. smile

Also, don't worry about the style. It helps, but story is what most people will remember.

Yeah. Yeah! Perhaps starting would be perferred.XD

And that last line. Very much true! Youre right. thank you sir.^^

I must fret because i simply want to be the most ' ready' as possible. Been holding on to this Story since 2010 and gone through so many styles and phases XD I Guess im a little giddy that im stepping very close to going through with this^^ Perhaps i should've released it then, rather. By now i think i wouldve came to the caliber im at now. And been content with my progression>.< OH WELLLL. XD Thanks again.

I did the same thing - kept putting of starting and then posting my comic because there was always something that could be improved upon or refined...

I'm gonna tell you a secret, though: With anything creative, it's never going to be "perfect." You are constantly improving and learning new ways to draw something or color something or write something. It is fun to see your art and your style evolve over the course of a comic, so don't put it off any more!

Your style right now is actually very appealing to me blush I hope you start posting soon so I can see more of it!

Your artwork is gorgeous! Love the splatter paint stuff you've made smile

When I started making comics I had lots of problems with style and storytelling. My artwork got in the way of telling the story, and I wanted to draw like other people - a style that wasn't mine and lacking 20 years of drawing smiley

I found my style when I was forced to draw very quickly - in school we were challenged to draw 16 pages in 16 hours and the only thing to help us was a title thrown at us at random. It was an eye opener for real! I got the story out, without over thinking it and afterwards I could re-do it all, but decided to keep that simple style I used during the 16 hours. The whole thing made me realize I could tell stories. Almost ever since I do the International 24 hour comic challenge in October, to let my mind wander off and tell the stories that I've been holding back on during the year smiley

Good luck!

Yes. It was only recently I realized that. T.T Im such a perfectionist i become obsessed over my presentation and ironically get absolutely NOTHING done. And it still looks awful in my eyesXD Its unfortunate im not the only one, but maybe for lurkers reading this they can understand how unproductive perfectionism is in the end, and will finally ACT with their art^^ But it seems my art's evolution is something that i must trek on to discover and learn.

Thanks for your time!

Oh! Also thanks for the compliment blush

Oh thank you very much!^^ Splatter paint and ink smear are something i will incorporate into my panels.Well maybe. 😛

Hmmm theres nothing wrong with taking inspiration from other artists,is there? But i see what you meant. Im glad you have your style patented within your hands.funny. Im finding my way of drawing in a much similar way. But my problem lies in the way i "pick" at my drawings when they need nothing moreXD Plus instead of 16hours for deadline, i have all the time in the world and all that time goes wasted on shenanigans on my watch😅😔

Thanks for the input.

Your style is... lovely, awesome... not just appealing, but it has a feeling in it. As for making comics, it seems the drawing style is not enough. Some of the best comics I've read are actually not so great visually, I'd say even ugly, but they bring a strong emotion and deliver the message quite well. That's the advice I would give myself too, because I tend to think about the drawing style too much, when in a comic the story and the panelling is the most important thing.

YOUR STYLE IS GREAT
OMG WHY YOU EVEN WORRY XD
Yell my name really loud when you publish your comic so I can be the first one to run over okay? XD

Thank you very much. I try to put a hint of "expressionist' feel or look to it, taking inspiration from some favorite artists of mine^^ Maybe not so much in these sketches but the top Right one has most of that element. True that, the story is most important but thats the thing. My story calls for a more "high exposure " serious look. Well a specific look at that.

Thanks again! Great to know im striking someone like that with my "art"

Lol never laughed this early in the morning XD I can't really yell loud, so keep your ears clean. Haha Thanks.

Hmm. Well it appears my link to my example work has been removed.(?)

So thanks everyone for your input😙! I hope to Release "SkyArc" soon! 😋
