Is anyone else bothered by the misplaced buttholes on the cis-male "ukes"? Like, they're always located where a vagina would be? Am I the only person anal enough to be bothered by this?
Since everyone else already mentioned my peeves several times, I'm just going to add onto the mental/physical illness, and abuse thing. I hate when the author uses something like cancer, or a -non-specific- mental illness brought about by past trauma to make the audience feel bad for the character. In these cases the problem is brought up in conversation, and they're never fleshed out, sometimes the illness even disappears after being mentioned, or the character's trauma is brought up constantly to excuse bad behavior. (this usually happens with the "semes")
I find the subject of illness, mental health, and gross medical stuff like disease and parasites to be super interesting. So it's really annoying when it's shoehorned in, especially so when the character has a -non-specific- illness, or when the symptoms are totally wrong or non-existent!
Also, this is weird coming from an aro-ace, but I'd like to see more exploration if there's going to be sex? Like, (well researched) BDSM, playing with different dynamics revolving around such. Seeing characters exploring dom and sub roles, or seeing if they like bondage. More non-penetrative stuff, consensual role-playing, poly stuff, etc. Normal, generic styled, monogamous sex is just... really boring to look at.
Lastly, backwards penises, and mushroom dicks. Pleeeeeease look at a real penis for reference if you've never drawn one before and plan to for your porno.
This stuff isn't exclusive to BL/GL, I've seen it in other genres, but I've personally seen these issues more in the BL community.
But leaky buttholes, yeah no. Spit lube, ouch. Sexist gender roles, why?
Edit: Forgot to add the "lack of communication causing huge a misunderstanding, leading to unnecessary drama". I don't get it, the whole concept is stupid. I'd like to think in a sane relationship your partner would just ask what's up if they saw you at chipotle with some chick instead of jumping to gross conclusions about you two fucking, especially if you're a gay male. This whole thing with character never just talking to eachother when there's a problem drives me up the wall!
