So do you think its good idea to put original works on hold to write fanfics

my original works arent getting many reads and a lot of people read fanfics could this help me gain more readers

Write whatever inspires you.

Personally, Seto Kaiba is my muse, and I only write fanfic at the moment. However, my husband and I have been talking about converting it to original fiction someday.

You do what you want to do. I put my ordinal stories on hold because most people don’t read them and I have no idea what to write. Fanfics are good for letting ideas out, and the best part is that it’s okay if it’s bad.

There is generally going to be a slower start for any original (especially if it's your first here) but as they have said. Do what you are enjoying. Maybe writing fanfics will help you take a step back from your original and evaluate why its not getting as much traffic as you hope. (It could always just be that not enough people have stumbled upon it. Luck determines a lot of things.)

Just keep grinding. It takes time to gain an audience.

Write what you want, but do not write for "views" or "readers" on Tapas. Especially if you think Fanfic will get you those numbers you seek. Primarily because of the debate that topic creates on this site specifically

As someone who went from original fiction to fanfics on Wattpad this is true in my case. At the moment I'm starting on here with my crossover fanfic His Obsession and it seems good thus far. I will however, slowly upload the rest of my stories from Wattpad on here when I'm writing other works. That way I will constantly be publishing works on my profile.

If you feel inspired to do a fanfiction, then you can step away from your original work. However, I don't recommend it if all you're seeking is more views/fans. It might seem like if you do it, you can gain a fanbase and then start to do original stories and your readers will follow you there too, that's actually in most cases an misconception.
Even if you're an artist and all your doing is fanart, you might get a lot more fans, however, when we switch to original artwork, they might not be interested in your work anymore. Because you got yourself put into a certain type of creator and your fanbase is generally just following for that reason.

It can take a long time to build an audience, because of the number of series on tapas. But, that shouldn't be the reason to stop working on your original work. You can step back and re-work it if you can improve it. But, don't stop because you don't have a big audience.

Personally, I rather have smaller audience that truly enjoys my original work, than a large audience who like me because of fanart/fanfiction.

fanfic is great to start but not in the long term, don't stop your Og for it since you will never escape the fanfic spiral then. Also of course your getting less viewers in Og stuff, fanfic already has a fanbase premade, while Og thing have to build it up from scratch

I disagree with the people who've said fanfic won't get your original works readers. I write fanfic for fun, but I always link to my tapas novel at the end of fics. I've gotten loyal readers here that way.
