Hello everyone!

Me and my friend launched our comic in December, and we got featured for several weeks on Webtoon's front page. We gained around 5k subs, which was really nice but we have impossibly low views compared to our subbing rate and our sub number. Our comic starts kind of wordy and serious, so we assumed it's a bit of a heavy read and too much to be picked up during exam season....but the thing is, about half of our readers has not continued beyond ep2. We've now accumulated 15 episodes (38k views) , and with much of our readership inactive, this will also affect our growth on the long run.

We'd love to hear your opinions on the matter if possible. Has anyone experienced something like that when they launched? Will people pick it up or just remain dormant because it's a heavy read?
How should we keep growing in such case?

If you read the post so far, thank you so much! T-T

It's pretty common to have a high percentage of "dead subs," where they sub to your comic but don't actually read it. It could be for any number of reasons, including putting it in their library as a reminder to read it later, or a shallow attempt at self-advertising (sub-for-sub, etc.)

You'd be surprised at how this gap exists for the biggest creators out there too. The bigger your following the wider this gap is.

I know this gap exists for bigger creators...but also comparing with people who just started, they have bigger percentages of people reading compared to ours. Even if they're lower in numbers, they still accumulate much more views and growth

I always assumed the majority are readers and dead subs is a minority...it's quite the opposite in our case, which is why it's very concerning
