Me and my family is tired of eating the same ol things. So we (mainly me) need new recipes to cook.

We have no dietary restrictions so share whatever you like. Desserts are also allowed. And who knows, you might just find a good recipe for yourself in this thread.

I don't make mine from recipe anymore, but I love Thai peanut sauce. I just dump the ingredients into a blender without measuring based on what strikes my fancy:

Peanut butter
sugar (or xylitol)
ginger
garlic
cilantro
crushed red pepper, cayenne pepper, or other pepper of choice
lemon or lime juice - orange also works
toasted sesame oil
soy sauce
rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar

I may be forgetting something. Usually, I just look around my kitchen and grab what I see.
Anyway, blend that all together and pour the sauce over noodles or rice!

Something quick and easy I do when home alone, curry tuna & mushroom noodle. In order of appearance on the pan:
- oil
- garlic / onion / ginger
- mushroom (any kind, but fresh ones are better)
- soy sauce & curry (powder)
When everything is cooked, I get out of the fire and add some tuna from a can.
Then eat with noodle... so quick, easy & cheap. Add some greenies to balance if need be.

One of my favorite things to cook. Bear in mind it takes around 3-4 hrs, but most of that is it simmering on its own and you can just leave it be. It’s really tasty, and is a great thing to make on lazy days when you don’t hae a lot going on

Pot Roast
Ingredients:

1 roast (top round/chuck all work. I generally go with 3-4 lbs)
Olive oil (a few tablespoons)
salt
pepper
4 cups beef broth (1 of the boxes you can buy in the supermarket)
potatoes & carrots (as many as you can fit in the pot)
Flour (for gravy)

Season the beef on all sides with salt and pepper. Put the olive oil in a big pot on medium heat, and sear all sides of the roast. Add broth and bring to a simmer. Cover the pot and set timer for 1.5 hrs, cooking on low heat. While that is going, peel and chop the potatoes & carrots, and season generously with more salt & pepper. when the time is up, add them in and cover the pot back up, setting the timer for another 1.5 hrs. Remove roast and vegetables.

For the gravy, whisk in flour into the leftover broth until it reaches the desired consistency. Salt & pepper to taste. This will make a lot of gravy.

Enjoy. If the roast is really big, you might want to bump up the total cook time to 4 hrs (>4 lbs).

Strawberry Fluff :3

Ratios are adjustable for personal flavor preferences:

:strawberry: Finely chopped strawberries
:strawberry: Whipped cream
:strawberry: Cream Cheese
:strawberry: Shredded Coconut
:strawberry: Chocolate Chips

Mix it all together and serve over a warm fudge brownie! One of my favorite comfort foods. Very tangy and creamy!:yum:

Oyakodon (really easy to make, awesomely packed with protein and all, consists of every day groceries)

This Bundt cake. Veeeery easy to make, will do just fine without the Bundt form, fantastic thing to make from scratch.

The most complicated dish I'm able to make is "crab salad".

Necessary ingredients:

  • White rice (1 cup of dry rice, 150ml volume);
  • Corn (1 conserve tin, 200-250ml volume);
  • Eggs (2-3);
  • Surimi sticks (1 medium, ~ 100-150g package);

Optional ingredients:

  • Spring onions (1-2 springs);
  • Mayonnaise (amount is according to your taste).

Tools:

  • Cooking pot OR big metal camping cup;
  • Stove OR any instant boiling water thing;
  • Any knife, even disposable will go.

Process:

  • Boil eggs for 10-15 minutes.
  • Find a note at your box/pack with rice, where they write, how long you should boil it.
  • Boil it according to the note.
  • In the meanwhile, slice eggs and sticks on small pieces.
  • Mix boiled rice with everything else.

This should be enough to make 4-6 decent portions or so.

Below is an estimation for my favorite pasta! It's simple and easy!

(The measurements of ingredients I included are really just guidelines. Do what tastes best to you! For example, I probably but closer to 5-6 tbs of capers in b/c I love capers.)

Pasta with Capers in Lemon-Butter-Garlic sauce

You'll need:
Spaghetti noodles
1/2 stick of butter
3-4 tbs capers
2 tbs minced garlic
Lemon juice to taste

  1. Prepare desired amount of spaghetti noodles as you normally would.
  2. In a large frying pan, melt a half-stick of butter on medium heat.
  3. Add 3-5 tablespoons (or however much you want, really) of capers into the frying pan, and let it simmer in the butter for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add lemon juice to taste (at least 3 tbs, I would suggest, but you do you! I always put way more in b/c I love lemon!). Let sauce simmer in frying pan for about 5 more minutes.
  5. Drain pasta of all but a little bit of the pasta water.
  6. Reduce the frying pan's heat to low, add the pasta to the sauce in the frying pan, mix thoroughly, and let simmer for a little longer.
  7. Take off the heat and enjoy!!

I just came back from the grocery store. I got everything I needed to make all of these dishes. I'll be sure to update y'all as I go.

My Nearly Instant Korean Fried Rice covered with Omelette

I don't make it often but it's so freaking easy to make and it's very healthy. Microwave a cup of jasmine or long-grained rice in about 1 1/4 cup water for 5 minutes on highest level. While that's cooking, take a small flat pan and toss in scallion-greens, garlic, chopped carrots, even some shrimp pieces are great too, whatever you love with fried rice. Fry until you get a good smell from the scallions, about 2-3 minutes.

Soak the rice 2-3 times in water until the water runs clear from the container. Drain, fluff with a fork, then add the rice to your onions, garlic, etc., FOLD in well, don't stir too much, and set aside.

Beat two eggs, add some seasoning you like, (a little salt n peppa is always good) then pour carefully into a super hot, non-stick or oiled, small flat pan. It's going to cook in a hurry, so wait maybe 30-45 seconds, grab two chopsticks (you have those, right?) and place on either side of the eggs at opposite ends.

Now comes the fun part. You're going to slowwwwwwly bring the chopsticks into the center of the eggs until it begins to rise up a bit while it cooks, then just as slowwwwwly twist the chopsticks continually so you get a pinwheel effect going, and keep doing it as the egg cooks and hardens. You should soon get an egg dome. :smiley:

Once the egg is fully cooked, take your mixture and form a "bowl" with it. Easiest way is to take a china cup, or tupperware bowl or something, fill the mixture in, then lay it on your plate upside down to mold. Carefully plop the egg dome on top. Add whatever cool sauce you want, like soy or my favorite sweet-pepper sauce. Yum!

Enjoy! :heart:
