I feel you guys so much on this.
Steven Universe is so full of great ideas that I feel just kind of get slapped on without the proper consideration. I've felt since the beginning of the show that the 11 minute episodes are way too restricting and are killing the writers' ability to make any complex plots.
And I so agree with @mewtwo13 about the lack of action. It seems they go with the sort of "let's teach a moral through the characters arguing with each other" episode plot way too often.
Also, I related to Pearl in the beginning of the series more than I've related to any other character in anything before (I'm a pretty high strung person), and then they totally ruined her for me and made her really stereotypical and annoying. That was so disappointing. I feel like people like me who are high strung and anxious tend to get misunderstood and they had the chance to show why we are the way we are and then they blew it and fell back on the old stereotypes again.
I love Steven Universe, but I feel like it could be so much better than it is. And the first thing they need to do is double the length of their episodes!!
