Ok so just finished a new art, and I was thinking of making it my new yearly cover.

It's perfectly fine if you don't like it, I might make another one that fits better.

I like the lighting/background of the new one more. I've never read your comic, it took me a while to figure out those two objects in the middle are the main characters. The old cover is more instantly clear/recognizable its about a rabbit/little girl/adventure/treasure.

I agree, there is so much high contrast in the detailed background elements that it's hard to tell what I am looking at in the new one. The old one is easier to tell because the character are right there in your face.
I do prefer the lighter background from the new one. I think it separates your foreground and background better than the old one.

ok so for context, the Hare is a blacksmith/bard/merchant, which is why in the old one I feel you understand his character better, he's putting prices on objects, the new one does feel more focused on the adventure part of the comic, but I guess that it gives a more general and vague sense of what the comic is about, leaving any kind of original concept behind.
I think I'll try another time, see if I can come up with another idea. Thanks.
