I remember having a convo with the creator of Pest Caravan about lineless vs. lineart, where she described lineart as "twice the work" because it felt like an extra step to her -- you have to colour the whole thing anyway, and in lineless you just colour and that's it!! Why add the extra step?? Whereas for me, lineart is where I put a lot of my definition and do a lot of my decision making, so lineless styles tend to be harder because they feel more roundabout to my brain, like going out of my way to avoid lines.
I've noticed, for MOST artists, you either love colouring and hate/tolerate lineart, or you love inking and hate/tolerate colouring. A lot of people who do a lot of finished work gravitate towards one, and if they do the other see it as more of a necessary evil. I suspect that plays a role for some folks?
I'm one of the weird people who loves inking, so while I like the look of lineless stuff and have fiddled with it some, it definitely doesn't come easily to me. I do the traditional art -> colour in photoshop method, though I've recently pulled away from using shading layers and such so I can work on learning how to colourpick more effectively!
