Thanks for the updates! I'm looking forward to the iOS app update as well.

By the way, if we update an existing episode, will it also change the date for it? My chapters can run for a number of months, and I don't want new visitors to think I haven't added a new page in ages when I only updated the other day.

YESSSS! Not even a 'dummy episode' update for 3 months!

Very cool! I'll have to see how I change up my updating.. Probably something similar to what I do on dA, where I upload pages by scenes. But I do like getting to write something new every episode.... HEY maybe I can ask everyone now, with this new feature

I worry about the overwhelming amount of notifications that may come with this. Wall post, new episode post, new series post, updated episode post, reply comments an episode, and now reply comments to all the wall post conversations you're now attached to. It may get to be bit much. Is there possibly a way to categorize these notifications or unfollow conversations that are getting out of hand and spammy?

Are you considering allowing the readers to activate/deactivate notifications for edition on episodes and from creators notifying subscribers?

Also, considering you implement this, how about allowing the reader to choose which creator/comic to receive notifications from?

I can finally spam everyone dumb enough to follow me with my ramblings whenever I feel like it!

Great points! We have an update planned specifically to address these concerns and give the reader more control over notifications. For now, we want to see how creators will use the feature before coming up with the appropriate settings.

Oh my god, yes! smiley so juiced about this update!

gotta go change up all my pages

Thank you so much, this is exactly what was needed most urgently on the site. You're awesome!

I don't think anyone should opt out of updated-episode notifications simply because I know many creators will use that as a way to update a new page (I know I probably will. lol.) But it's a good idea to be able to unfollow certain wall posts convos and such...

OH wait, I just realized also that I follow a lot of webcomics on here by RSS not by subscriptions...If a creator decides to edit an episode to post a new page, will I be notified via RSS too? (Not sure if you guys even know the answer to this...haha). I just find RSS to be more convenient for me personally.

It's in the pipeline smile

Just for clarification, updates/edits to episodes will appear in the Activity Feed, not your Reading List. Sorry for the confusion.

Wouldn't it be more intuitive to have episode edits appear in the reading list feed, and wall post notifications in the activity feed?

EDIT: Also, clicking on "send" button in the popup doesn't do anything. It doesn't close the popup, it doesn't refresh the window, and I have no confirmation as to whether my readers got notification or not... Bug?

I agree with @keii4ii that it would be more intuitive if the updated page appeared in the reading list, though I can understand it might be maybe trickier to implement when it's an edit of a previous episode. But if it could at least be in the reading list when it's an update of the latest episode it would be quite nice already.

It would also be nice to have a little confirmation that the notification sending worked, yes ♥

I am so very pleasantly surprised by the new option! It is done in a very clever way I tnink, because it appears in the massage section, rather than bothering with an email people every time you update a chapter - which would be the case if it was in the reading list section! And the best part is it leaves you with an option to choose if youwant to deliver such message to the subscribers or you are not ready yet to do so! It's great! I love it!

I think it's a good thing, that it's in the activity list. Imo the reading list notifications should be for new episodes only, I would like to keep that list as "cleaned up" as possible. But no matter if it's in the reading list or the activity feed, the most important thing is in my opinion, that readers can see immediately if it is "just" and update or a completely new episode... (I really like it the way it is at the moment actually) and as mentioned before, even I would like to have the option to disable different notifications (in case some creators are using them way too often.. and I'm afraid that will happen).

About the bug: I noticed the same thing when I was testing the function yesterday. It seems it's doing the change and sends the notification (I got your notification btw :3) but nothing happens visually. It would be great if this would be fixed. Even I was afraid that I sent multiple notifications XD

Yay! Good to know the notification worked at least, even if there's a little bug that needs to be ironed out! =D

That's the thing, though. What is the distinction between "just an update" versus a completely new episode? With some comics, entirely new content may be added through an edit, and there may be little to no difference between an edit and a new episode, content-wise, when a chapter gets too long to fit in a single episode.

The problem with putting these in the activity section is that creators often have a TON of activity notifications. I don't want new content to get buried under a bunch of Like notifications, for example (not that likes are insignificant!). This may change in the future when the activity notifications are improved and categorized, but in the meantime, creators like me might be just better off adding new episodes for new content.

And as a reader, too, I'd honestly prefer to keep all "here's more comic to read" notifications in the reading list section. My activity notifications are for comments and similar interactions... It's not for "ooh! New comic to check out!" and now it suddenly is?

The concern about 'little edit' updates flooding the reading list is definitely understandable, though. @noxfox's suggestion about sending it to the reading list when it's an update of the latest episode sounds most excellent; I hope it is feasible.

Hm... ok I didn't take into consideration that some series have several pages in one episode. I agree that for every new uploaded page there should be a notification in the reading list section... but then I'm asking myself (and that is a honest question out of curiosity, I hope it doesn't come over wrong!): What is the advantage for creators to upload several pages in one episode? I always thought about it like this: One page per episode. New content = New episode.
