alright, tbh i wanted a removal partly because i cant keep up setting up my new chapter and redoing old pages...

the copyright thing became a concern after

so it was a good thing i completely wiped my comic off the face of the site before i got myself too deep

That's weird. "Yes, absolutely your comic is yours, Your own the rights of your comic, We just need some reasonable rights licenses to publish it on our platform legally."That's what they told me.

I've been on MangaToon for a few months now? Like @ghostmaya I emailed them directly to publishing under them (non-exclusively). As far as I am aware, you do keep copyrights of your own comic/IP if you sign non-exclusively.

However, since I am not an expert on legal rights or MangaToon itself, I will say this. I have a hard time researching this too because there's not much info on it, so I don't know if they have control over your IP rights other than what is stated in the document, but I would say go in knowing that there is a possibility of them holding (at least some) rights. Be aware and know that when you aim to sign into any legal deal with a publisher or company, there will likely be that possibility of the other party holding some sort of right over your IP (whether to post on their platform, give you payments, etc) because that is how a business deal works. It's a negotiation between parties (and usually to the company's benefit), so always go in aware of that fact and make sure you negotiate your rights and can agree to the other party's terms before giving your signature away. (it's also good to make sure there is a termination clause)

I don't want (nor am I trying) to discourage anyone from signing on to MangaToon (or any publisher for that matter). It may work for you, it may not. It's different for everyone. Everyone seeks the best of their comic (whether it's with a publisher, self-publishing, etc) it's up to you to decide. I just don't want anyone to go in blind to a publishing company without knowing what they're playing at.

Ofc, if there's any other questions (either abt MangaToon, WebcomicsApp, etc), feel free to hit me up. I'm always happy to help ^v^

I heard that You can apply for contract if you have more than 20 chapters and 20000 words in your comic so, has anyone tried to apply with them?

My general gut feeling: since I hard coded my own website, I probably lean toward reading content there first, and then maybe putting content up when I feel more comfortable with it.

Edit* Oh! So it's not a user-generated content website?

After a few exploration, I left with nothing but bewilderment. Is there any clear distinction between "featured" (those comics whose author agreed to sign with Mangatoon) and "user uploaded" comics? I only see a mashed up list of comics and I don't know which one is the "featured" and which one is the "user uploaded" (beside the obvious ones)

And what's up with viewing comics on desktop there? Seems like it's half-baked!

Also, THEY ARE PROVIDING SOME POPULAR LEGAL ANIMES????

Is Mangatoon the place that would carry on after MangaRock shut its doors?

My comic got rejected on mangatoon because they think it's stolen and I'm not the artist...yay :3

I have my comic on manga toon. I will say alot of their stuff is geared for slice of life/romance but its obviously slated all for a certain demographic of probably young teen to 20s or so and female. So that being said obviously you have to watch what you post.

They review your comic, which is something that I like alot. It helps to prevent over saturation. and keep quality standards high.

My comic will soon be reaching the 20 chapter mark and I'll try to apply after that and let you all know.

You will be surprised your efforts making revenue will be unknown... and I hate it.

After showing managtoon my comic is actually mine they added it
I'm confused though, are the likes on a comic the subs? If not, where can I find my sub count?

The poor translation of their own copy text and the lack of desktop support really turns me off of that site.

When I post my chapters on mangatoon. It says passed but after 6 days it still hasn't appeared in the app. Why does this happen?

maybe they forgot to press a button? Better ask them o.o

I've been on mangatoon for almost month now and have earned a whole 0,50 cents
Since people can only withdraw balance at 100$ it seems that this'll be a long long ride xD
