Getting back on topic I have a question of my own.

I wanted to add a drawing of a female knight getting out of a bath showing her abs but being censored by hot steam.

Would that be allowed?
Or would I have to add underwear.

Basically it is a typical scene in which men show off their abs but female version.
Ofc females have to get extra censor on their chest but I was wondering if steam was enough or if I would ultimately need to add underwear.

If steam doesn't work would a towel work?

To be honest, nowadays rules (whatever they are) seem stricter for tapas mobile app than for webtoon (or maybe people just stopped reporting me over there :P) - the bulges I had to censor for tapas? They've been up for a year on webtoon. So if you'll get a pass on the app here, then you're safe on webtoon as well.

I think steam will be fine, if it's not semi-transparent and it covers stuff up properly (one comic I read here used steam as censorship at one point and if I remember correctly, the author had to add more of it to tapas version than one other sites)

Would it be considered mature content though? 🫣

If so, which tag?
It is basically fan service so assuming I have enough steam would it need the mature tag?

And thanks for answering my question.

How does one post for the app and website separately, out of curiosity? I've heard of people doing that, but I have no idea how and I don't remember if there was some sort of option to specify.

@Katzalcoatl I've seen a couple comics on Tapas that have used steam, as long as it's fully covering. And I remember one person saying that a moderator actually asked them to add steam to cover up their own character, and then the page was approved afterward.

Is there a place I can show my image to get aproval by moderators or do I just post it? Also do moderators check episodes you left to the system to autopost in a certain date or do they check it right when it's published?

@candiedcotton you can't mark your series as browser only on your own, but once you start publishing, your series will get checked by staff before it starts appearing on the app, if you're not censoring enough, it won't appear on it/will be taken off if you've been posting there already
So posting to the app and browser version of the site separately just means having a less censored version that is removed from the app and a really censored one that appears both on the app and browser version

@Katzalcoatl They do check scheduled episodes, my series got removed once over pages that were meant to go live in a week and two weeks

There isn't, which is dumb and there really should be. The best options we have are to just post it and see what happens. But yeah, I think a couple people have said they check scheduled uploads.

it depends if the nudity here is in a sexual context or not. In my one not nsfw series, I've had scenes where the main character is completely naked (just with crotch area always hidden by the angles used, speak bubbles, etc) and since those scenes aren't sexual in nature (it's an inner world kinda deal, like when Shinji got absorbed into eva in NGE) so I didn't mark it as mature and have been fine, no issues from staff, comic is still on the app.

To give some context I just want to show off abs and add romantic-comedy. Person is taking a shower just finished. Mad person gets in not knowing it's the bathroom. They quickly blush trying to run away and they get cornered with a hand on the wall moment. Person who sneaked in runs away extremely embarrased while the other person just smirks.

Don't think it's sexual. It will be a novel and not a comic but I wanted to add an image of the scene as fan service just showing off the abs and muscles of the female knight.

Normally, you see this scene with a ML taking a bath and the female MC walking in.

I could also add her back instead of her front.

I think unless as long as you cover her breasts and in between legs you should be fine, even without the mature warning

Agree with this.

@Katzalcoatl honestly, the scene sounds cute and fun. I'd probably get a laugh out of it. Just go for it. And make sure you report back here on what happens.

Thanks for all the help. I shall try it. Hopefully no issues will arise. I do notice M tag reduces views on chapters which is something I would like to avoid.

@Katzalcoatl if the only bare part of the knight showing is the abs, and the rest is covered with a towel/opaque steam, anything else, I wouldn't even count it as nudity. But you can still use the nudity mature tag if you want to be safe.

Wow this thread came just on time. I'd like to throw my question into the mix if that's ok ^^

So I have this upcoming chapter (in a bit, but it's in the works) that has a short make out scene. I didn't think much about it because everyone stays clad and there isn't mention of any body parts that could be considered sexual (I think), but recently I saw some people mark similar scenes as mature? So now I'm wondering where does the line pass? Any tips?

@candiedcotton also I know this isn't the main point of the thread but I love how this scene is done. No Tapas tips, but I think it's a great take on a trope that can be a little... iffy sometimes imo. And it certainly doesn't look like you don't know what you're doing with scenes of this nature haha.

I think you'd be well within what's fine in the guidelines and those folks may be just warning their readers that things are getting spicier - you can't really use the author's comment as a heads up and they may not want to add a warning to the text itself. In general, I think that rules around mature content not being clear enough can lead to both people not censoring/marking stuff as mature enough and going too far and marking anything more intimate than hand holding as mature.

If it's just kissing, that's totally fine and I wouldn't even put a mature tag.

Sometimes creators are a little too cautious and mark episodes mature when they really don't need to. They could also mark it if it's a big shift from the normal tone of their story.

@Animefanka @joannekwan thank you! Yeah I guess that makes sense it just got me so confused haha. Also, didn't want to accidentally not mark something mature when it would be expected to be marked as such (both in terms of site rules and what readers would expect). And I definitely don't think there's a big shift there. It's progression, but an expected, by-genre-rules one (at least I think so).
