So, which of the two do you prefer to spend your time doing? Reading stuff (novels, articles, comics etc)? Or watching stuff (film, television, YouTube etc)?

  • I prefer to spend my time reading.
  • I prefer to spend my time watching.

I find reading is more comfortable because I can adjust it to my own pace, but watching is easier and interesting.

However, sometimes I feel annoyed when the music or voice isn't right, the narrator talk too slow, the pace is too slow, or just too many unnecessary shots (yeah, petty shit). I often end up skipping and speeding up some videos to only extract the backbone of it. For example when I want to cook something, if I can read the recipe and how to cook it, I'd prefer it than watching a video.

i've gotten to a point now where it's difficult to read unless i'm in a quiet enough or calm enough environemt that i can focus so i tend to default to watching things. I won't deny that my specific preferences can sometimes make it hard to find things to watch (or listen to) but generally it's what i chose for convenience sake

also kind of agree with this

it just plays into the personal preference thing but i've noticed especially lately that i'm super particular when it comes to voice specifically and i can't completely place why but it can kind of kill my immersion when viewing something

I definitely read more. I wake up early in the morning just to make some extra time to read and paid a little extra in rent just to be right next to the library :sob:

I will read if I can to avoid watching, tbh. If I have the choice of reading an article or watching a news clip about it, I will take the article 100% of the time. I legit hate (haaaaaaaaate) auto-playing videos when I'm trying to read an article.

If people send me YouTube links or Tiktok clips, I won't watch them unless the sender asks me if I did or otherwise insists. I don't like movie marathons either-- my limit for movies is ONE. After that, I'm tapped. Most of the time, I don't even fully absorb the one movie.

Can you tell I'm not a Netflix binge-watcher? In fact, I barely watch TV at all.

I dunno... sometimes the audio/visual input of watching something is too much sensory input. I get restless, I don't want to sit through it, I don't know what to expect, I don't like it.

The exception to this is when I'm working on a comic page, I'll have a playlist of Youtube videos playing that I sort of half-watch while I'm working. Means I get to absorb interesting topics without the 'too much' sensory input of watching video after video, but my mind doesn't wander as much as it would if I were just listening to music instead.

I dunno, I'm weird.

I prefer to read but honestly watching is more multitask-friendly and I can work on other things whilst doing it so I watch stuff more
