I usually do a lot more color and shading in my works - but that's been taking so much of my time that it made making new pages a real chore. So, I'm trying out a more 'traditional' approach to the patterns and shading of the webcomic. How is it looking so far?

How are these drawings? These do not have anti-aliasing... Does that irk anyone?

I think if you layer them both- the cell shaded over the top as depth you'll the more serious, somber tone that you may be looking for. However you could easily grab one penal from the sepia tone on the left to make one part more impactful- that way you could choose which panel to highlight as the main idea of the moment in this scene.
Both work individually, but you would also combine them for depth. I kind of just like the sepia tone too, but I think that's because the way you shaded adds realism to the story.

Doesn't Irk me, but I'd say unless the title include that style as a feature (like '8 Bit Stories' or something) people may misunderstand that it's chosen on purpose, and not resized incorrectly.

Hey, everyone! I'm pretty new to Tapastic, and want to present the best possible work I can. So I'd like to get some opinions to help me out. First off, I always draw my cartoons by hand, but after scanning my completed work, I do the coloring via Photoshop. With each Tapastic post, I share the final colored version, but I also like to tack on a black-and-white version of the same cartoon. My hope is to show folks exactly how my work looks on paper as well as the final result. Some "old-school" readers have told me they really like seeing the black-and-white ones, but I've also heard suggestions that they take away from the main, colored cartoons. So I'm posting an upcoming episode in my Candace 'n' Company series to show whoever's interested how they look together. I welcome any and all thoughts. If you like it, let me know. If you don't, ditto!

I personally prefer the black and white version. I find the coloured version to be rather bright and distracting with the extreme saturated red cyan and blue.

Although I do find the black and white version lacks detail in the background which makes it feel a litter empty, especially in the last panel.

A good job on the standard tree, but that isn't practical on a time crunch. Please continue to practice that tree as always, but also try drawing a group of trees together in a more abstract way, that way you're not spending 10 hours on backgrounds and only have time for one hour of character drawings.

It's a good start, tho it seems a bit too geometric, which makes it look like a mushroom cloud. Maybe have some branches and some roots.
