I'd like to be able to write something deep and meaningful that really moves a reader....but I just can't. I think because my nature is light, fluffy, sarcasm, it's really hard for me to get in too deep on the emotional level. So every time I write something that I think "Oh my god! My readers are going to hate me this is so good" it winds up being a fizzle with the readers Even when I draw on my own experiences with something like depression or self esteem issues I always seem to go with the lighter side, I can't get into the real nitty gritty of it.
I also used to really want to write horror novels like Stephen King, but to say they lacked that edge would be an understatement. I'm very happy that I've settled into fantasy. Even though I follow a lot of fantasy cliches it's more my speed for sure. I'll occasionally branch out and try something else, because you never know when you might be better at something if you don't try, but I often wind up missing my fantasy creatures and magic LOL
