Honestly, I have been writing my main series and I just realized that the entire series would probably end up to like 100 episodes. I don't know if that is because there is too much to write or if it is because I am just dragging out everything. Regardless, will this be considered as too long a novel? Anyone else with the same problem?

Webnovel are a little different than traditional novels (in my opinion)

I've seen MANY webnovels that are extremely long and readers seem to be perfectly happy with that. Of course, I imagine that the writer is keeping a good pace and continuing to move the story along.

It may also depend on how long each of those episodes are too. If they are on the shorter side, then it makes sense to have more episodes.

You would have to review the story to see if the pacing is too slow. If it is, then you may need to make some adjustments. I would focus on the content. If it's good, people probably won't mind that it's long.

Well, for my novel, the pacing is slow right now, but that's because I need to introduce most of the main characters into the book. So, there is not much action and all going on (to me, at least). Plus, I also post short episodes because that is what I feel most comfortable in writing. Thank you for your help though!! I'll definitely look into that!

It's a balancing game. Stories will have their slow points, but it is important to hook the reader at the start so don't get about that

Yes the longer the webnovel the better for me, if anything if i say a webnovel only have a 100 episodes i think its incredibly short and wont bother reading it. I like things 500+ chapters of course it dosent mean I want to read 10 chapters of somone just leaving there home or something. Especially the first few chapters i think have to be faster then most then you can settle down with the pacing.

Oh alright! I think this would help me in pacing my novel better since it is about someone who has to move away to another place, so now I know what to avoid. Thank you!!

I’m currently at 107 chapters and just hit 178 subs, so there are readers out there who don’t seem to mind!
I am going to break it up into two novels though (which was never my original plan). Something about getting too much further on one novel feels like a lot.

Wow!!! Firstly, congratulations on getting this far!! And secondly, I totally get it. Even the thought of getting to hundred chapters scares me but I feel like it is necessary to the storyline and if it gets too long, I'll probably cut it into another novel or something too.

Keep the industry standards in mind while you write. A fantasy novel has AT LEAST 80k words (up to 130k afaik), so if you write a fantasy novel here with chapters of around 1k words each, you obviously end up with 80+ chapters. And then there's the distinction between MG, YA etc.

Basically:

I'd say you're fine. ^^

Woah! Knowing that even the industry itself wants such a high word count makes me extremely relieved! Thank you for quelling my worries!!

I'm used to reading webnovels now. The longest I've read was about 2k chapters, granted it was a chinese translated novel. The word count, I'm going to estimate about 4 million since its about 2k words each chapters.

Okay wow!! That's a lot of words! I can only dream of writing that many chapters for one story. It must have taken so much time and patience for the author to write it

When you're used to it, it is easier I guess? Also depending on the translator, the names in most Chinese novel can take up to 3 words :joy:

True, I guess it would be easier to hit a higher word count that way. Still, it is a looot to write. I'm honestly impressed by the author

I have a young adult novel of 44 chapters and lenght 136k
depends how many words u have per chapter, 100 but with 1000 words is not much i think for example
my horror novel has like 50k atm if not sure and i will end at 65-70 probably
no need to drag the action
