I have Twitch1 and Picarto1 and at the moment I'm alternating between the two trying to see which one works best :/ I seem to get more of an audience on picarto so far, even though Flash crashes for so many people. What do you guys prefer?

@cryoclaire I've got a Picarto-channel5. I don't stream Grassblades there (I'm so far ahead with my buffer that 90% of it would be spoilers) but I do stream other stuff occasionally - though not as often as I would like.

It works pretty well for me, and I like their new, updated design. I've never used Twitch, so I can't really compare the two, but Picarto's been nice so far - it's only crashed once or twice, and it's been easy to fix (and who knows if that's the fault of Picarto or my own internet connection).

Hmm... interesting.
I wonder if I should try streaming when I create stuff.

But then again, art isn't my main source of income, so I don't think I'll commit to it unless I'm on my second or third year of arting.

This is gonna sound weird, but I find Twitch works more for two things:

1.) Gamers
2.) People who already have a pre-existing audience.

Most people who go to Twitch go to Twitch because there's a specific user they want to watch, a user who's already famous as fuck (ex. SummerGamesDoneQuick, TwitchPlays, etc.). Whereas Picarto is a lot easier to build a userbase on. Plus Picarto is actually built for artists whereas Twitch is built for broadcasters (and when I say that I mean like, people who offer up an entertainment service vs. an artistic one, so like gaming, show episodes, podcasts, etc).

So if you're an artist with a small fanbase, Picarto is your best bet. If you're a famous streamer who does all kinds of things besides art streams, Twitch. And whatever you're comfortable with using, really.

i found my experience with Picarto sucked...I never had a single visitor...now this was before they changed the layout and it looks a LOT nicer...but since I've been streaming on Twitch I have added about 30 followers in a month without even really putting my self out there on any websites, hell, this may be my first advertisement on a forum of my page....I also don't have any bells and whistles so I feel good about that. I heard Twitch just opened up its art section recently so maybe why some people have had a slow experience with it but I've also seen the top streams hosting 200-300 people at times...most don't but there is that potential and I haven't seen that on Picarto.

I might alternate between the two just to test them both out...maybe Youtube as well since they have a streaming system?

My Twitch2

My Picarto1

I switched to twitch about a month ago? A friend of mine wanted to watch me stream but was never able to because they needed to do so through the phone. Picarto does not have a phone ap, Twitch does, so I thought I would switch over for a few streams so that they could watch a few.

Personally I find that twitch just works a lot better for me than picarto on the technical sense because it doesn't crash on me and my viewers all the time. It was happening a lot on picarto, not sure what it was about it as most people seem to be able to stay connected without any trouble. Me on the other hand could not stay on there without getting booted ever twenty mins, while my viewers would keep getting black screens or the stream would keep freezing on them.

It's not all bad experiences for me though, when it was cooperative and actually did work I really liked the multistreaming with friends when I happen to be awake when my friends are up for drawing.

The amount of viwers I get on a stream for either site seems to be somewhat the same.

Yeah I have some connection issues w/ twitch (i'm in the midwest not sure if that makes a difference with the server i use being in TX and I'm in MO) BUT for the most part its been good and i love love love my veiwers and the creative community as a whole. I also like Multitwitch but it really needs a thing like Picarto where two streamers can be on the same screen at once.

BTW...followed ya both @kurapikasuki and @kennethjwagnon
