Hi, I'm looking into writing the script to a webtoon. However, I have no idea what the "traditional format" for webtoon scripts are. I've done traditional comic scripts before, and single-panel comics (e.g. MSPA) before, but never a webtoon; the format is very different! Are there any scripts floating around on the internet that I could read to study? Or, alternatively, are there any webtoon authors here that would be willing to share sample scripts to help fellow writers?

The one's I've written mostly looks like this:

Maybe with less details, as this was from my first script where both me and the artist was new to webtoon making. But from what I have seen around tapas forums lately, it's pretty close to what most other does ^^

I had the same problem of not being able to simply find a proper script template when starting, tho xD

Oh, nice that it's for a script for a comic I've read, so I can vaguely follow it already. I'm wondering if it's as simple as listing panel descriptions and dialogue in sequential order, though webtoons often do a lot of stuff that aren't "just" normal square panels so I'm not sure how that part goes in the script. Maybe it's just listed as a normal panel and it's up to the artist-author collab to hash that out?

I also made Very beautiful thumbnails, but in the end I let the paneling be up to the artist, as I felt like she was much better at seeing how it would be best represented with the flow of things.

But yea, I think it's up to the collab to figure out details.

I see the script mostly as a guideline for the artist to follow, and if the artist has some ideas for how to representing the vision of the author, that's where the real stuff happens xD

I'm pretty lazy with how I approach scripting. First I'll write a rough outline of the events I want to happen in the episode, then I'll write down each panel following the outline. With actions/scenes/things that aren't speech, I'll only write the bare minimum description just so that I can understand. Nobody else is going to see the script, so there's no point in making it look nice.

Ah I guess if you already have the details of the panels in your head you don't need to add much detail either.

There are good detailed samples about the same topic as yours in this thread -- I also put my sample in there
along with some pointers.

Oh wow, two very similar threads lol. I guess it's OK as long as this thread is only about webtoons. Thanks for the sample though!

Hi, may I ask how much you charge per script? Also, what is the typical length of a script for a webtoon?
