TL;DR: A lot of us have been drawing/writing for a long time! What do you do differently now (habits, techniques, tools, preferences, etc.)?
I'm looking at old sketchbooks to get some perspective as to how far I've come, and aside from improvements in anatomy, facial structure, general drawing stuff... I've also noticed that there are a lot of things I do differently now when it comes to supplies, habits, and technique.
Some things I noticed are:
- I almost never completely filled a sketchbook page. So much blank space. Nowadays I try my best to use every corner of the page.
- I used to use these ridiculously light pencils. 4H, 2H at the darkest. Why did I do this?! My sketches are all ridiculously light!
Thank goodness now I use colored pencils, ballpoint pens, and/or HB pencils. You can actually see things.
- Speaking of blank space, so many skipped pages.
- I put all my studies and normal sketches in the same books. Now, I keep two sketchbooks: one for general sketching and designing, the other for studies and thumbnailing.
I'm sure there's more, but this is all I can come up with right now. Anyone else wanna share their own before and now's?
