I believe maybe my use and experimentation of textures and colours regardless of how cartoony makes me stand out.
For my comics. To give the feeling of kids arts and craft. I ink with a penicl tool and shade with the crayon tool

For my illustrated novel I ink with a basic pen tool but I will experiment with shading and texture tool. So from my resleased pic that best showcases it (Thou my method has changed due to finding my preferred shading texture being water colour tool, but those episodes haven't been released yet)

Also my use of predominate colours. My comics using alot of purple and My novel using alot of red

The soft lighting/atmosphere is my favorite thing about my current art style (I'm still pretty new so working out what my style actually is I guess :smile_01:). But I think that's the thing that's consistent across all the types of art I make. And I love thinking about expressions and body language but I think that's a lot of us comic artists!

Understanding how your own art style is unique is actually really hard... but it's nice to reflect on it.

@Freemints30 I love the way you use textures! The characters really stand out on the page! The arts and crafts feel is definitely super interesting

@DualDragons Your color choices are really good! Orange-yellow are some of my favorite colors to use too! (and that fire looks really good!)

@migxmeg I really love your lighting! It gives a really ethereal feel to your art, very magical-looking!

I'd say the most interesting part of my art style is the diversity... I always like to try new stuff, so you never really know what to expect other than black and white...

Hmm.. Probably the way I distribute line weight depending on the light source and how I play with the lighting, the color temperature to emphasize a certain overall 'mood' in my artwork. I also noticed that I tend to use muted colors but let the light do its work to make certain colors to pop out and the color temperature tend to influence the mood of my artwork ^^

I went out of my way to try and make Alchemist Burn Outs feel like a unique nostalgic experience, actually. It's not my "artstyle" persay, because my style changes depending on the project, and even in this comic I like to change it up occasionally and do color.

And it was a learning experience for sure. I wanted to reference things I enjoyed in more European comics like Tintin with it's simplified art style and in Sunday comics I grew up reading where you really only had linework and that was it (which is largely why everyone has blank eyes.) But to mix it with some interesting compositions that I enjoy in western page format comics that break the panels and allow sequences to sort of flow into eachother.

also it's a graphic novel based on a book, so sometimes I just had a lot of text, and I really wanted that YA novel experience so I left it in there.I had to really learn to take advantage of graphic design to try and keep it from feeling like it was a chore to read that text. To keep it booklike but also...comic like.

At least that was what I was trying to do, whether or not I acheived it--eh.

Like I really just wanted to see what happens to a comic when you take out all the details--and you're left with still...just so many possibilities. I was hiding behind details for a long time so it was a good exercise for me.

From what people have told me, it's like, a few different things. For those that watch me stream, it's my art process. From what people see of the end result, it's either the flat color, or the lines. It all kind of ties together. That thing is me using MS Paint.

for regular art

and comic process (had to scale the first two down, the original canvas size I work with is very big and won't let me upload it)

  • Shameless use of free stock photos for background and texture abuse.
  • Purples everywhere because I do not know any other color. The colors are oversaturated you would feel colourblind after looking at it.
  • Severe abuse of overlay and add layers.
  • Overcompensate in details because I am weak at fundamentals and unwilling to learn or use any reference because of sheer laziness.
  • Weird eastern and western art style hybrid because try to redeem from years of weebiness, but find western art style not that appealing.

I honestly don't know, some people just say the art style is unique in general
Maybe my black inking, since thats the aspect people mention the most as being really good, tho i don't understand why, maybe they're referring to the lineart

Comic wise I think that the most unique features are the way I do lighting to blend the characters and make the mood pop and also how I focus a lot on expressions and body language.

@Missapogee wow thank you for the kind words. I must say I also Luv yours as well. the lack of lines makes it appealing, bright, and fun. I also admire the use of color on it as well. I can totally see your style in a children's book. keep up the good work :tulip:

@gmaximin Your art style is really interesting! I love how many things you do with your lines and shapes!

@Eiranyx Your art is really clean and professional looking!

@rajillustration You panel layout is really creative and Expressive!

@Siromany I love how bright you colors are and how clean the lineart is!

@uselessgoddess I love how unique and creative your drawings are! The second one reminds me of those old sci-fi book covers

@R.n.P You use hatching really well! Reminds me of early manga (i.e. osamu tezuka)

@Chita Your pacing and expressions are really good too!

@SagaHolmgaard Your character designs are really good, and I like how you use black and white!

@padduwu I love the noses! Your artstyle and coloring are really soft looking

@neginmrdeath Your right about you characters being beautiful! They look like they could have come out of a popular dating sim
