Hey all, I recently started posting my new webcomic 'The Prospectors' on here and Webtoon a few months ago. It gets little to no interaction at all, sometimes only getting a few views per post. I am at 7 subscribers on here and 3 on Webtoon. This is bizarre to me because back in 2016, I posted another webcomic on Webtoon and it's sitting at nearly 2,000 subs with zero updates at this point (69 subs on here).

It's a little disheartening because my drawing and writing skills have improved a ton since my last webcomic attempt. I'm wondering if this is a product of the ever changing algorithm or if there's a better time to be posting new updates. I usually post around 5/6pm EST later in the week.

Thanks in advance!

I post very sporadically but most of the engagement on my comic is from a base of subscribers that found me through social media (Twitter/Instagram) and the Tapas forums. It doesn't really matter when I post because they're typically loyal enough to interact regardless. Do you share your webcomic on any of your social media accounts if you have them? It might be a great place to start as far as getting eyes on your work.

I don't really know much about the Tapas algorithm, but I can 99.9% guarantee that my webcomic would be nowhere near where it is now without me spreading it via word of mouth on forums and social media. I think that would be a great place to start, and then with that interaction your comic might get picked up by the algorithm so more eyes can see it.

What I can say, that's a common problem for every site and social media. Back in 2010-2012 there were no probs with hitting your audience and even be trending but now... I'd say it's too much newly minted artists and so a lot of competition now.

I haven't really tried to share it on social media, but that's probably a good idea! Do you have any suggestions for tags or wording for more people to discover it?

I agree, I feel like it was much easier for me to get interaction anywhere 'back in the day' lol. Too much content at this point I guess!

I use a lot of hashtags like #webtoon #webcomic #tapascomic #originalcharacter and those seem to work well. Sometimes I also tag Tapas in my posts so then it shows up in their tagged posts on IG. Sometimes you just have to get creative with the marketing strategy!
