What comes to mind are:
- Ugh
- Yuck
- Ick
and
- Gross,
though, there are probably more.

Moist.

....

Ohhh wait the question was "what's one short word best expressing disgust". I thought it was "what's one short word that disgusts you" lol jk jk

I would say if it's a sound effect word (so onomatopoeia) then "AUGH" or "YEEK!" or a classic JonTron style "ECHH" would work perfectly. Otherwise if it's an adjective, then you can't deny that Adam Ellis' technique is the way to go.

wait, for a grown man?
I suggest watching Kitchen Nightmares and letting Gordon Ramsay's beautiful noises seep into your soul.
"OH! YOU F*CKING DONKEY!"
"Oh. Hideous. Hideous."
"Oh my god."
"Eugh."

I like these gordon ramsay vocabularies, it has the feel I'm looking for on how my character would speak, thanks!
I probably go with eugh and hideous

For "sounds" describing Eew... I think most has been accounted for so far but words meaning "disgusting"?

Here's a few:
Vile
awful
foul
Nauseating
gruesome
atrocious
appalling
grungy
vulgar
revolting...

or just go visit this site, my trusty friend in the war of writing:

Eugh!
Uck
Ick
Ech
Yeugh
Ugh
Bleugh
Heuuugh

Just go wild man

I think depending on context a simple "Nope" might work.

I hear grown guys use it in reference to gross bugs a lot.

Something a grownup would say is:

"BLARG!"

"URK!"

"KCCH!"

"HACK!"

"HURP..!"

"UGHH..."

and "GLUP.... F@#$...."

I personally prefer "Eugh", "AUGH", or mayhaps "Gyuargh"
Pretty much anything you say when you have to touch wet food in the sink.
