What size do you make your comics?

I planning on making a comic,

and I am just wondering what size do you guys usually do, or what
is the best size.

I draw at 3307x4677 pixels at 400 dpi, but I resize them down to 800x1131 pixels for posting. I draw at the larger size because I do intend to print stuff, and then a higher resolution/bigger size is important.

Tapastic has a size-limit of 940 pixels wide, but I find 800 pixels is enough to serve my purposes.

I draw everything on A4 and USED to scan everything at 300dpi. But I was such a noob back then, and did not realised halftone dots come out crap at that low a resolution. So it's 600dpi all the way now. If I were to print my comic however, it would be A5 size : )

I don't think there is a "best size" for comics. Though there are usually standards people like to stick to (A5, B5 etc). I think it depends what type of comic you are creating and whether you want it to be a smaller or bigger sized volume?

Doesn't matter for web however, as long as you stick to the size limitations and whatever makes your comic look best : )

that's interesting to know about the half tone dots coming out better on 600 dpi than 300 dpi, I shall have to remember that.

I use A6 at 350 dpi, but I might bump it up to 400 to fix the small text problem after conversion.

I draw at 8400x6000 at 300 dpi, which is kind of large, and then I crop down to 800x640

My cartoons are drawn by hand, so they are measured in inches, rather than pixels. Years ago, I read that newspaper comic strips are generally drawn at 4" tall by 13" wide (before being reduced to fit onto the funny pages), so I've been drawing my comic strips at that exact size. When I scan them to my computer, I aim for 300 dpi, which results in an image about 1,200 pixels tall by 3,900 pixels wide. I use Photoshop Elements to resize as necessary for posting to websites, while keeping my original size.

I usually draw at 750x750 to keep it simple. If I drew larger sized drawings then sized them down, the little lines would become nonexistent:

Everything can work good.
I always draw on paper so I use either A3 or A4. And I always work with a physical book in mind.
If it's A3 I keep all the panels inside a 24x36cm grid. If it is a full bleed page I cut tha paper so it meassures 30x40cm. Then I draw some guidelines 2,5cm from the top and the inside (as in towards the spine of a book) and 5cm from the bottom and outside.
If its A4 I just put a 2cm wide border around the edges of the paper.
I always scan them as bmp. lineart at 600dpi. I probably don't need it but you never know.

A3 at 300 DPI, then resize to A4 150 DPI for Facebook and a bit less for Tapastic because there's a width limit at 940 pixels (I don't remember the numbers, but A4 at 150 is something like 1240 pixel wide). Higher resolutions are good for future printing (which is something I'd really love to do if I can found a publisher or become known wnough to have a proper crowdfounding campaign) and shrinking makes the page look crisper and more precise on screen.

I work on A5 size at 600dpi (i intend to print someday), then smite the width into 700px for the web, works perfectly with my comic

to print 300dpi it's the minimum for what i know.

I work at A3 size at 300 dpi for all phases- pencils, inks, colors. Once I'm done with the inital work, I reduce the size to actual comic book dimensions and do the lettering at that size, using anywhere between 7 to 9 pt type- depending on the style and sizing of the (word balloon/dialogue)font. SFX(sound FX) fonts vary in size to what I need for the particular effect.

I'm very, very new to comic-making, so now that I've gotten started, it's suddenly occurred to me that it would have been a great idea to initially draw at high-resolution and then resize to fit Tapastic. However, being the foolish young person I am, I took one look at the size specifications (I think it's 940 x 4000 pixels) and decided that I should do 650 x 1000 pixels. I guess it works for me, and is a compromise between too small to read and making any tiny mistake glaringly obvious, but my advice is: don't do what I did. >_<. Better to draw at high-res so you have more initial flexibility.

I draw at 8.5" by 11" at 600 dpi. Though I do plan on changing the size soon as the file causes my computer to lag quite a lot and resizing causes the images to be blurry.

I do pretty much everything by hand. I'm working 18"x24" for the pencils and inks on my current comic, Diary of a Douchebag. Then I scan the pages and fix up any mistakes on photoshop. Then I reprint them out on 11"x17" arches hot press watercolor paper (they don't make paper that size so I buy a giant roll and cut the pages individually by hand). Then I paint the pages and then scan those pages.

it's a long and tedious process but I prefer painting things by hand instead of coloring on the computer.

I have only made 3 so far but I think my three panels of 800 X 800 px works out for what I do.
They were made with Clip Studio Pro ( which just went on sale for $25 until the 13th) then I went to Comic Life to add the text and back to make sure everything is okay.
