Got a response back from Tapas saying that they're forwarding the email to other team members because they've been receiving similar complaints recently.
Good work, guys! xD
Hopefully, some good change will come of this...

My OCD is spiking just from seeing 86 notifications that I can't clear.

For the people on Firefox (@Llyrel @Animefanka @NellieVP318 ), I read on discord that clicking+ctrl to make a new tab open make all the notifications go away.

I use chrome so I can't confirm nor deny.

Thanks for the tip, just tried it and it worked! :tapa_pop: No need to deactivate uBlock Origin either.

One additional thing I noticed: it only seems to work with clicking + holding the CTRL button to open a new tab. Clicking with your mouse wheel (which also opens a new tab) won't do the trick.

I seriously hope they fix this, btw. Fun fact, I checked the notifications from my phone today and discovered that I got a new subscriber who read and liked all my episodes (:heart_03:). When I opened the website from my desktop, however, the Activity notifications were gone (because I'd already seen them on my phone). Guess which notification did NOT go away until I used the trick above, though?

...Yep, you guessed it. It was the ad for a premium comic.

It should be in the exact same place as in the activity tab. Up at the top right:

I know! It's crazy!! I just logged in this morning, and I was sooooo confused why I was getting a hundred notifications about random comics I never heard of! Like you said, It's really inconvenient!!

I'm on web browser and what Kate posted is exactly what I see. As others have said there seems to be a problem with the "mark all as read button" on firefox, so you might want to switch to an alternative browser to clear all...

Is there a way to turn notifications from Tapas off entirely? I've always been annoyed when they put stuff in my notifications that have nothing to do with my interaction with the site, but at this point it's absolutely ridiculous.

Hey tapas? Please stop. Like really, actually, for realsies not kidding. Stop. I'm not going to click on any of these, ever, and making your Tapas sponsored releases more obnoxious and in my way is not going to encourage me to like them.

I use Mozilla Firefox, and have had no problems with the ‘mark all read’ feature. I select the messages tab and hit mark all read, the notifications number reduces right away, then I move to the activity tab and do the same, and its all clear instantly each time.

This ‘upgrade’ is, in all probability, a planned move by the site, and it isn’t going away. The least they could do for us creators is move the Activity tab as the default, and the other two useless (for creators) tabs as second and third.

My Chrome won't let me paste any images but I am using the website on an android phone if that helps.

Ah... the site isn't really designed to use on mobile. I think they'd likely assume anyone on a mobile device would be using the app, while browser users would mostly be creators, and so on a desktop PC. You may need to submit a support ticket on Tapas discord.

I got 81 messages and jumped from my hammock. Nothing even remotely related to what I use to read. Why so much despair, Tapas???

I'd just note that I'm a reader rather than a tapas creator myself, but I still only use view tapas on my laptop, not on my phone, as I like being able to see the comics on a larger screen. And even as a reader, the activity tab is the only tab that I find useful out of these notifications. I want to know if someone I'm subscribed to shares a post or if someone replies to a comment I made, not if there's a promotion for a series I'll never read.

Okay, and it's totally fine you do that, but you're not the majority of users, and especially not users who are readers, but not creators. Also I'm not Tapas, so complaining about it to me won't really do much. Believe me, if I had any position in Tapas where I could change this, I would.

What? I'm... not complaining to you? I'm further corroborating why the inbox redesign makes things difficult for users in the thread that is about how the inbox redesign makes things difficult for users.

Since you were bringing that up, it seemed like a useful springboard for explaining why it's a general usability issue; I'm certainly not the only person having this problem. That doesn't make that a personal complaint to you, that's just standard quoting of a post for context.

Sorry, the phrasing made it just come across like you were talking directly to me to dispute my point about most readers using the app and then to tell me what you think Tapas should do. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

No worries, sorry it sounded more personal than I intended
