Being female myself, it's not surprising that I'd write female protagonists. Even though I've read a ton of "shounen manga" and have certain tropes I adore, for some reason my protags never end up like any of them.... Well, I do have male ones and actually there's a tendency for there to be deutergonists, esp female+male, probably because I love subverting the whole "MAN AND WOMAN THAT GET ALONG??? THEY MUST KISS AND HAVE BABIES". I do like romance though.

My current webcomic "Suck it!!" has a teenage girl as the lead with whom my intention is to kind of explore feminity-- well, not "explore"... Basically, she was created back when I was making sense of how I view gender so she ended up being a girl who remains one through and through despite what hobbies and interests she may have (both traditonally feminine and masculine). But anyway, the main focus is actually about her dealing with a male character who is kind of the other protag.

I have two action/adventure/fantasy type stories that have a female lead but I'm not ready to draw those stories yet. One of them is a princess and the other is a... well, she's a hyper-aggressive kid, haha;;

Woo! My comic the Chronicles of Oro stars Juniper Diane Snow, a thirteen year old girl who gets sent to the world of Oro... a place that seems to be trying to get rid of her at every opportunity.

I started writing CoO when I too was thirteen. (And oh boy was the story different then...) After finishing University I stumbled across Juniper's story hidden away on an old computer, I reflected on how I perceived her and her 'quest' when it started and compared it to the character I saw as a twenty year old. The story has been re-written a few times since then, each time with a better understanding of who she is and what I was trying to say through my main character. Although Juniper and I will go (and have gone) through very different paths in life and face different struggles, I still see a bit of my past-self in her.

Juniper's story has become one that I needed to hear when I was thirteen.

@elixiadragmire I just started reading Silversong. Love the colors! That's one of the hardest things to get right and you nail it.

My comic, Furies, is about a woman who first dons a mask to get revenge on her stalker. The first draft of the character was actually a guy, but when I met Yeom Moon Kyeong, I had to work with her, so I reworked the role for her.

The main character of Burning Bright is female. As a female creator, myself, I chose for my protagonist to be a girl because the story is told a lot through her thoughts and inner dialogue, and it was obviously just easier to get into a female mindset for that
I also have always liked stories about girls/women who learn to be strong on their own (as corny as it sounds) – learn what their value is, not to others, but to themselves.

My comic This Mortal Coil has a female protagonist. I just always gravitated towards drawing girls, watching shoujo/josei anime, and I really like the Lolita aesthetic (I'm a guy), and that's why Kamiko is both a girl and a Lolita. A lot of the other secondary characters are also female like Chang'e (Lady of the Moon from Chinese mythology), The Ferrywoman, Hana and Natsumi -- these two have a very special relationship to Kamiko, esp. the latter. I have some other female characters I'd like to introduce in future stories too.

Female protagonists in my "Summerdays" project are saved by guys a lot, but it's because they search for adventures. It doesn't mean that such actions lead to romantic relationships, it's more of a team work. XD Also if a male character saves a girl, it doesn't make him stronger than that girl.

I'm making an all-ages webcomic too, called Tales from the Well. Which also recently has a female protagonist!

There's technically three main protagonists in Tales from the Well, two of which are girls. This is Poppy, an easily excited girl who faces danger head-on with a big missing-middle-tooth smile! And enthusiasm.
I wanted to make a story with lots of lady characters that also has a focus on a sister relationship =)

It's about a young woman fighting against some pretty rigid traditions. I chose a female protagonist just to do equal parts. There's a lot of characters involved, and I also have a few other stories with males and females as protagonists and antagonists. It's fun drawing a female doing things a male would usually be seen doing. I think it makes it more interesting personally.

I write and draw a comic that stars a female main character. It's about a princess who has to go on a journey to save her brother. It started out as just an experimental thing- I wanted to gender flip the whole "rescue the princess" thing for fun. I initially had a hard time figuring out where I wanted it to go, but I'm making progress.

My comic Bite Me have three main protagonists, two males and one female (because romance duh xD). But the girl is in the centre of attention and a heroine of the story. Comic itself is still in early development, but maybe you will give it a shot.

My comic, Amy Plays Games, is about me (a sort of androgynous female protagonist) and my struggles in playing video games! I really wanted to catalog the crazy and random stuff that happens to me during these play-throughs. The language is strong from time to time so it's not really for all ages.

I have another work-in-progress comic with a female protagonist, but it's currently in it's scripting stage.

I'm certainly having a crack at it with Justice Guardians, trying to introduce a cast of colourful and interesting characters, both heroes and villains. The current storyline revolves around Jessica, who is bestowed power and is now learning how to control and use it for the good of her city, aided by her childhood heroes.

I don't know what to say really. At the first glance it looks like all I make has a female protagonist. But the main character that appears in most of my stories is actually genderless. But "she" looks very female and usually represents a more female apprach to the story (not literally. It is hard to explain with words).
