@CodeMonkeyArts that is the million dollar question, right? And however it worked for someone else isn’t necessarily going to work the same for you
@lilithfairenwrites this might not be what you want to hear... but keep going! Someone is enjoying your work! And then, when you’re done with that story, tell another story! Building a following is hard and it’s frustraring when you love your story and just want to share it with the world... and no one else seems to appreciate it but you’re less than a month in! Nothing happens overnight
This is a big part of why I’m not overly interested in trad-pub. I know they want stuff that’ll make the company money... but just writing that phrase sucked the joy right out of everything. (I’m a really weird, oddly not-money-driven type of person, though ). I would much rather write my weird stories and share them for free than be told that it’s not good enough for anybody to read. At the end of the day, I believe stories need to be told.
@Shanny8 yeah, money to pay the bills is important I think quite a few of us would reconsider our stance if we hit that tipping point where our art was our main source of income
