Hello,
Anyone know how to wordpress? xD
I was thinking of starting my own page somewhere instead of facebook fanpage and was wondering if you can squeeze something cool from non-premium version. Since the customization is pretty limited can you make a decent webpage without paying anything?

Yes, you can smile
Both of my websites here7 and there4 were with free themes. BUT I had to ask a webdesigner to help me. Wordpress got nice free widgets, depending what you're looking for. You can find some themes here4.
What do you want to do? A portfolio, or a fanapge like Facebook?

More like a fan page (own website) I guess plus I would love to share everything I have learn about webcomics and wordpress seems good for blogging as well ^^

No kidding, those first pages are based on wordpress? O-O

Okay, so with drawings with social medias included and blogging. Check also those themes there1, some look like Tumblr themes well adapted for this smile

Yup. The first one is "Minamaze", and the second is "A thematic" theme. It was supposed to be a theme with almost nothing, so the webdesigner would program everything!
For the first one, I asked for a gallery into it, and the webdesigner worked on it.

Even if you don't have a professionnal with you, Wordpress can be understandable, and if you have basis in changing the font colors and background colors, it's a big plus.

Thank you ^^
Yeah I'm just playing with it right now. I think I will get used to it after a while ^^

Both my comic site and my portfolio are done on wordpress with free themes: Creepcomic.com7 and Kayla-Miller.com5

I did any coding alterations by myself and I don't have premium. I do pay for my own hosting and domain though.

My blog, WintreKitty Reviews3 (recently got a facelift), is on wordpress and I don't pay a dime for it. It is pretty simplistic for the most part, but it gets the job done. I'd love to be able to afford to pay for a site... maybe in the future.

@AffectedMind What about wix.com? They have free themes. it's a drag and drop thing (you don't have to know Wordpress right off the bat aaaaand.... you don't have to pay a dime (they host the website but if you want your own domain and email you have to pay extra). Or may be Squarespace? My website Tickled Pink Confetti2 is built using Squarespace. You do have to pay $7 every month, but it comes with a free domain name (you can't keep changing it though once the grace period is passed). I love it so far. You don't have to do customisation, but if you know a little bit of coding, you can basically do whatever you like. It basically has "blocks" for your graphics to go to, so you just need to be creative with how you place the blocks around. Out of the two I love Squarespace. Their templates are so cool!!!

Then do tumblr. It'll be a reasonably good free version. Just gotta install the free theme and get it set up. Takes a few hours to set up and make pretty.

Welp, if you don't understand tumblr, Wordpress isn't gonna be any easier :/ it's a giant mess when it comes to installing plugins and themes and make sure they all work with each other. (if you're installing it on your own site anyway)

I handle Wordpress better than thumblr... It's much easier and the UI is more intuitive. On thumblr I couldn't find anything, for me it's more difficult.
