Definitely finish it! Even if it doesn't get recognition, the act of pushing through to the end is a VERY valuable one that will actually help you quite a bit as far as improving your artistic craft.
And believe it or not, even with art that isn't 'great' its totally possible to find a following and people who support and appreciate your work. I still get people reaching out to me about a comic I ran years and years ago that really wasn't great, and I would never in a million years think of publishing again. I absolutely hate the thing, but to other people it still really means a lot.
Keep chipping away at your craft, and keep growing, but don't be afraid to put your work out there. You never know who it might inspire.
Everyone thank you so much!!
I am sure most of us all have experienced the same struggles, and i am glad i asked this on this forum since i was almost lost my confidence completely, i even stop inking earlier but now i am continuing with even greater excitement. hopefully after i finished the whole comic i can start reading all of your works one by one , since i've been drawing for 11 hours per day since i start sketching the whole comic last month
Thank you so much for your encouragement and support, I will definitely finish it even though I can only finish 2-3 pages per day with my slow drawing pace (my manga has 48 pages), and now I already finished 21 pages.
@ChaoticConstellation Yes of course !! I will share the link probably at first of September or if it's possible, by end of this month hopefully
Take care everyone and hope you had a great weekend!
Depending of the kind of story you are making, this art style can be a good thing. For a comic i am doing for my nephews it worked wonders. (to a point they did fanart of it)
Of course this may not look well depending what you are aiming for. Just pointing out that it can be a stylistic choice.
If you are participating in a contest, and losing doesnt send you to the shadow realm, i recommend you to finish it for the sake of experience and feedback.
Afterwards, practice as much as you want.
unfortunately my art style is not good enough for the kind of story that i am making though, and what made it worse that i changed the story just a month before the deadline (2 weeks ago, and the deadline is end of this month), so basically i created the concept most of the stuffs in the story spontaneously and i know it's pretty bad. But i kinda want to try to finish a full one shot comic, so whatever the result is, i want it to be the first stepping stone towards a better work next year
yes, i will definitely finish it ! i don't really after likes or views anyway, it just the ability to finish is lot of important than a recognition for early starter like me
thank you for your advices!
i did made some improvements but as i aware that my drawing pace is really slow and the deadline is less than 3 weeks away, with 48 pages i don't think i can give much improvements
all i can do is only put more time on specific pages that i am interested to explore my ideas / skills on, like battle scenes.
Hi guys, hope everyone is healthy and safe. I am not sure if it's allowed to share a link from other website, but here is the manga/comic that i have worked on from the last 40+ days, to be honest it's not that good, and it's even worst after i exported it from the app, because the page doesn't seems perfectly clear to be read. Here you go:
Thank you guys for your encouragement and support
@Kelheor Aw thank you so much !! Yes, I know, it was a tough emotional ride though, i almost stopped for few times but I am glad I made it to the end , do you still participating in any contest on Medibang?
@wocalichofficial Yes definitely! The ability to finish is something that I am lacking, it took me 8 years to finally finish something.. phew
I had a nervous breakdown after finishing the first work (it was an entry for Shounen Jump+ contest), so I say take a rest for sure No, never participated there anymore because I have an ongoing comic, but I guess it would be nice to try again later. But then I got something in a recent Webtoon contest, which means everything is not in vain and this first comic was a right step
Wow so they do have the Jump Contest regularly then, that's cool! I see, omg i can totally relate to your experience though, i do take some extra rest for the last week of work i took a lot of naps so I can stay fit to finish them. Ah I see, that's awesome, thank you for sharing that! i read your works in Tapas and also on Medibang (I did some search :p) and your drawing is so good! I love all the details too! I hope I can stay consistently creating more one-shots and win one too in the future
