I'm not a fan of when somebody comments and then copy-pastes a link to a reaction gif. A) links don't work in the comments and B) that is making a lot of assumptions about how I want to spend my time. I love responding to comments, especially on my controversial political comic, but I don't like trying to come up with some clever response to every kitty-face reaction gif accompanied by sarcastic commentary about Italian dictators.

I don't really get many (if any) comments on here.

But in general...
-"First" (not cute, just annoying)
-People who compare my stuff to Invader Zim (I don't even like that show)
-Any comment where someone is so pissed that they make death threats or say they want to kill themselves (That's not funny, that is actually really scary. You need serious help)

He's been commenting less and less, but yeah. I think what might have gotten him to calm down a bit was that he essentially started a fight in the comments of a creator's wall post we both followed and I called him out on it.

One of my commenters has a habit of trying to be funny but in the...'edgy' sort of way. It's harmless but most of the time the comments can get sort of uncomfortable x_x, one notable examples are one of the characters had been sleeping for a while and they made a joke insinuating the other character raped them.

yeah  i tolerate most of the comments they leave if theyre innocuous enough but I delete the others that were like. that comment. or ones that have the potential of making someone else uncomfortable enough to call them out on it.

I have a comic that is literally begging for rude comments and I still haven't received anything as bad as what @heterodont just described. That's awful.

I'm very blessed with lovely readers that are always nice and sweet.

But there's a comments that I receive a lot that I find kinda annoying:

  • Yuri on Ice mentions. Just because my story involves figure skaters, even though it's NOTHING alike :unamused: These kind of comments really made me have a grudge against YOI. And I thought the hype finally died, but apparently there will be another season? So fuck me I guess.

  • Quirky comments. Not related to my story, and nothing I can respond to. (It;s always the same people, doing this on EVERYONE'S comics)

  • And in a way, when people comment what they expect will happen, and they are 100% right. I have no idea how to respond to that haha. At the same time I love these, because it means they paid attention to my story

In one update I told the story of my kitty Minerva, who died in a surgery. Everyone in the comments were really nice, except for this guy. I don't know why, but he HAD to comment something rude about my cat dying. I mean, who does that??

I haven't really run into any annoying comments on here but Webtoons is full of them. The "first" and "upvote my comment" ones are pretty bad but the ones that irk me the worst are the "more pages" collective.

I've got one comic getting 9 pages a week over there just cause there's a lot of backlog to get through and someone still asked for double updates. I told them it wouldn't be possible (even if yeah, I could for a little while) and they came back saying "maybe since it's summertime you'll be able to get more drawing done."

...Well, not everyone is still in school and not working a job like you obviously still seem to be, Sheesh.

I hate it when I get a comment asking me a question about the comic, and it's obvious they didn't read the comic and only the newest page. Simple things like, "why is his shirt missing?" This happens on DeviantArt. I do mark the titles of the pages with series and page number, you I would think they would get that there are more pages. ^_^;

It also bugs me when someone tries to guess the over all plot of my comic or where I'm going with the comic. I have a hard time deciding if what they say is how it should go, or if they kind of got it right, I should not go that way because it's too obvious or what? It just makes me rethink the comic and start to unfold what I wanted to in the comic. Like a plot train wreak happens in my head when someone comments like this.

Comments don't normally bother me but-

  • Webtoons: "FIRST!", "First comment! YAY!"

  • Tapastic: Someone advertising their comic via my wall and comment section.

The "first" comments piss me off the most cuz they only happen on Webtoons, and I can't delete them. But I did tell someone once that their comment was like stage 1 cancer, and the obnoxious comments slowly diminished after that.
Basically if the comment is completely off topic it's annoying. Why comment on a comic with something totally unrelated? That's what Facebook, Skype, and all those other social media sites are for.

The only comments I've ever got on my comics here on Tapas are negative ones actually. It's a little disheartening.

(I've had other people tell me they enjoy my comics, so it doesn't really discourage me, but oof.)

Aaa, yes. I've been trying to think since this topic popped up which comments bug me the most (short of flat out purposefully rude ones, which are rare), and now that you've mentioned it, this. This is it.
I have a few readers who I think started following me when I got a daily snack and just still haven't read any of the earlier chapters, so they ask a lot of really obvious questions that were very blatantly explained and that anyone who reads my comic would know.
There's two people in particular who do this, but one is at least nice about it... If he asks an obvious question, he at least gives me a "Sorry, I just haven't gotten around to reading the rest yet! Can you explain why ___." And that's fine. I don't mind that.
What DOES bug me is I have this one girl who just seems to like...imply I'm doing a bad job when she doesn't understand. Even though she has told me she hasn't read the first few chapters. So the interactions sort of go along the lines of...
"Why is his shirt purple?"
"Because he's a blank."
"Idfk what a blank is???"
Well...maybe if you just read...literally the first 10 pages of this comic...you'd know.
Another example of this is, I always have a 2 week break between chapters, during which I usually have 3 guest comics, not drawn by me. A few days before my last chapter was released, I made a wall post announcement that, "Hey guys! CoB will be back tomorrow!"
And was literally told "It's not a big deal, you updated just 3 days ago."
....Okay, if you'd actually take a LOOK at the comic, you'd see that update 3 days ago wasn't an actual page of my comic, nor were the past THREE updates because it's been on a break for TWO WEEKS. But she doesn't actually read my comic, so I guess she wouldn't know that, despite the fact that she for some reason expects to know everything without looking at more than a few random pages.

lol That even got me a bit irritated. XD
When I get these comments I just tell them to read the comic and they will know!

For people that don't like "FIRST!" type comments. Take it as a complement. They think your comic is popular enough to call out first comment, like you are going to get a ton of comments. If my comic got posts like that, I would ware it around as a badge of honor! No one calls these out on my comic, you lucky ducks! XD

comments I see too much of on pages is: "OMFG HE'S insert demographic here??!1!? THAT'S SO FUCKING COOOLLL OMMMGG OHHHMMMASKSKHDSKD I LOVE HIM EVEN MORE AUUUAUAUAAA!!"

yeah we get it the character is canonically part of a minority group, can you calm down. I can't tell if these people are creepy fetishists or shallow tumblr users who don't understand minority groups can exist in media without acting like the world is imploding on itself. And don't argue with me they're "celebrating diversity", you know damn well they care more what the character is then who they are as a person.

I don't really have these issues yet because my plot-driven comics aren't popular enough for people to even speculate on yet. lol

Oh man I got one comment that went along the lines of "be more subtle like SU for representation, don't be a third wave man-spreading feminist with a leftist agenda", JUST because I mentioned I drew a figure androgynous to be non-discriminatory.

I'm like excuse me? Talk about an entitled reader trying to police my work. Next time I get a comment like this, I'm straight up deleting it. They're not worth my time. :expressionless:

"Why so short"
"When will they bang"
"Who is the girl" (about a gay couple)
"Who is the uke and who is the seme"

I am lucky enough to get little to no rape jokes in the comments.
Instead I get the funniest little drama beans throwing a fit. Someone once demanded I make the entire bloodroot thumbnail into a trigger warning
I also recently had a little drama llama come on my wall to ask my why I, in their words, "promote incest". I did my best to be polite in my response to them. They later accused me of condoning pedophilia. Shit got really weird
