Oh is this a meme thread? I really wanna talk about jazz :frowning:

no lol.i used a meme for the description bc i had nothing else to do to it, but its a genuine thread about jazz

I like Jazz, most of the time when it is a mixture with other genres of music and it is played off well then I'll kick with it lol
Most of the time it'll be with me with that, but anyways Jazz in all I find it soothing fufufu, and relaxing in a way, reminds me of those black and white movies.

Oh nice. Well then yes I do like jazz, quite a lot
It’s so freeform. It can swing, it can be smooth, it can be bluesy, it can have all this nonsense with chord extensions and irregular meter. So many of my other favorite genres and albums stem from jazz. I’ve always liked it—I essentially grew up with it.

I tend to have on an acid jazz playlist when I’m drawing my comic. I got introduced to that subgenre through Persona 5 like many people did, but I’m glad I found out about it anyway! Jazz/funk/soul stylings on house beats? I’m hooked.

Also really love channels like Adam Neely and Charles Cornell that analyze jazz structure (and they both just have great music analysis in general!)

Love jazz. One of the things I miss the most with the pandemic is going to a jazz club.

I have a particularly soft spot for 1920's "le jazz hot." But, like all other forms of music I have to be in the mood for it, whether it's soft or fusion.

Here's a little Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grapelli for you (by the way Django only played two-fingered having suffered a paralysis when younger.

And then, of course, you have Bix Biederbecke a 1927 recording here (ultimate hot summer weather music)

I've only heard one guy sing this in a jazz club, he was very very good, but a jazz singer friend of mine (knowing my love of the baritone voice) introduced me to this man's work from the 40's and 50's.

I used to play a lot of jazz piano. My brother and I talked about ideas of finding a bass and drummer and starting a quartet.

Oscar peterson is one of my favorite pianist of all time

I didn't know that about django rheinhardt. I like the jazz you posted, always makes me feel like im living in a noir film. my favorite jazz station does a program on weekends where they play swing, big band, and classical jazz. it makes me nostalgic for things ive never experienced.

I like jazz! But that depressive kind. I was absolutely delighted to find this lists on YouTube:

Also, there is a webcomic called 'Jazz for Two' (Jazz para dos). I read an spanish version, so I don't know if there is an english one. but there must be one on the manga pages. Anyway, the central theme of that webcomic is Jazz, and most of the chapters has one central song. You can search the song, press play, and go with the webcomic along. Its has been one of the greatest mixed media experience that I have had.

Well, I spent like... five years at university studying it. And I sing it with a band from time to time. So yeah, I'd say I like it pretty well.

Big band swing jazz is where it's at, it's such a happy sounding music!

I am indifferent about it. I enjoy some jazz, especially the older stuff but I don't think I would be able to sit through a Jazz jam session that lasts a hour. I am not really a fan of Free Jazz (or whatever it's called). I do think jazz works well as ambient or Non-diegetic music in media. But overall, I think I prefer blues more.

i like jazz too, though not too knowledgeable about it. I'm more towards the songs: The musicals from old movies, some broadway songs, the jazz 'standards', vocal performances from incredible singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland etc. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I also really like listening to chill Bossa Nova music.

Yes!! Bossa Nova is such an amazing genre of Jazz. The soft guitar strumming and the light singing. It's like taking a walk on a summer day. Also really like when the studio versions extend the songs -- I find that a lot of the live versions might not play the entire song? Like, for The Girl From Ipanema, she only sung the English verse, but the studio version has her verse and her husband's verse. And it kinda adds a different texture to the song, you know?
