Ever wonder what it's like to be stuck at home with two little children under the age of 7? Welcome to my parenting (mis)adventures where running the lives of two little people become both the highest and the lowest of my days. And when you can't get even with them, you just throw your hands in the air and start drawing comics! snickers

Western Australia here smile

I'm at the stage of life where I have kids running around me, so I spend my days running after the kids (the toddler one, especially). My days are structured around them, most of the time. I have a lot of exercise from running their life and also from other activities such as gardening and running t…

Mine is a slice of life on my own family, so yes, I do star in my own comics. It's called Veronika's Little World and it's semi autobiographical journal on raising my little family. [image]

@Thesleepypencil I agree. Don't ever look back. @Noodle_Survivor If I may ask, how long have you been drawing and can I see you comics? Also, if it makes you feel better, I have 68 subscribers at the moment and only one responds when I made an announcement just recently blush But I refuse to see that a…

@Kaykedrawsthings You have great line work. I love your style!

First one! It's so much bolder. I like it!

@Noodle_Survivor Hmmm... if there is anything I learn from drawing comics so far is.... most readers prefer to keep all opinions to themselves. When someone has a lot of comments or responses, a lot of them just amounted to approximately 5-10% of their subscribers, not to mention those who think the…

@wbparham247 Yep, and from design point of view, once you nailed a particular style for a particular series, it might be best to stick to the style as much as possible to the series could is recognisable just by looking at the colour, layout and character style. Kind of like a brand. Just my thinkin…

@AffectedMind What about wix.com? They have free themes. it's a drag and drop thing (you don't have to know Wordpress right off the bat aaaaand.... you don't have to pay a dime (they host the website but if you want your own domain and email you have to pay extra). Or may be Squarespace? My website T…

@wbparham247 It's always fun to see your style changes over the years. It's kind of looking at an old photo album of yourself as a child. I love how you didn't really change your character's style but change your finishing techniques over the years. I actually drew the prototype of my comics Veroni…

Thanks! I really enjoy drawing her smile

Hmmmm..... so many cool pictures here! It's my turn now smile This is what I used for my avatar: [image] This is how I usually draw myself: [image] And this is me, with glasses. [image]

That's really spot on, the way you draw yourself. Cool glasses!

Aaawww.... nooo, I love the blue hair!

Your avatar is pretty similar to your real self! Cool bangs, btw wink

I used to have lots of hobbies, but they all fall by the wayside now. I love reading, playing piano, cross-stiching, playing RPGs and watching movies. Now all of those have been replaced with gardening, taking care of the interior of my house and watching kid's television. It's funny how you really …

What a handsome young man smile

I love your style. Saving this to explore later. I just love kind character.

Ollie from my comics Veronika's Little World. She's a 6-year-old girly girl little girl who is sometimes too smart for her own good. Although a little precocious at times, she is also sweet, funny, and she loves her family very much. Totally a mama's little girl (despite the occasional arguments abo…

What do you use to draw on ipad? Why is it lame for you? Does it lag when you use your stylus? Curious because I've never done it blush

I stop drawing and go to sleep smile

No worries! However, even if you decide not to post anything on Instagram, it is still an inspiring social media as a lot of artists upload their stuff there smiley

My comics Veronika's Little World is all about my family, so naturally I let them know what I'm going to write although I don't formally ask for their permission. It's more like by way of sharing ideas and the fun of drawing the comics in the first place. But then again, my comics is light-hearted a…

@fanyart Instagram is exactly that - a photo sharing medium. I use instagram a lot, and I really enjoy discovering many eye candies from other people's accounts. In term of self promotion, I don't think it works as well as facebook or twitter in regards to driving traffic to your website, but it's g…

Well, I draw whenever I can in between family commitments, and one comic strip takes approximately 15 Hrs to draw, update is every week, so bearing in mind I can only draw 5 days a week, on average I draw around 3 hrs? But in truth I usually cram drawing session into 5 hours at night.

@Peej Depends on how you want to present yourself to readers/fans. Do you want yourself to be known just for a particular work/project, or do you want to put your name forward as a brand name (i.e. author) where fans can find your other projects in the same place. The advantage of setting up an fb …

@michaelson Just out of curiosity, do you post only comics strips or do you post other materials as well, such as memes, jokes, relevant articles, etc? One thing I learnt from my blogging friends is to make your facebook account as visible as possible to your followers to build your own community o…

I am a website/graphic designer, although I also draw extensively. I consider drawing as a hobby with benefit as I'm also looking for ways to monetize this in the future. I know when I said monetize it might sound so mercenary, but to be able to keep drawing you do need some funds as drawing takes a…

I don't think it matters that much. You can still make your comic strips look finished and polished even if you're not colouring it digitally. I draw my comics with traditional media, and then colour it with markers. I use minimal digital touch up, basically to clear up the layout and to make colour…

Veronika and Louie from Veronika's Little World There is not yet romantic drawing of them yet, but I'll get there eventually stuck_out_tongue Veronika stays at home with the kids while Louie is the breadwinner and the long suffering husband who has to put up with lots of Veronika's and the kids' antics. Together th…
