I'm curious if anyone in this forum are actually planning to participate in the Webtoon contest this year. I'd love to hear about the your plans:

1.. Are you doing it alone or as a team?
2. Are you submitting an existing webtoon of yours or making a new one?
3. What category and genre are you planning to join?
4. Is there any part of the webtoon making process you're particularly nervous about?

I plan to make a new webcomic for the contest, for the comedy category c: but only if I find time for it between my 9-5, drawing current webcomic and also other hobbies cx
I'm also considering merging my current webcomic's episodes into longer ones (so uploading whole chapter as one episode instead of dividing it into several smalled updates) and submiting it, but I'll have to think about it a little bit more before deciding. I'll probably do that if I don't find time to draw something new. 'Haunted House' would be submitted to the 'most gripping' category.

And how about you?

yup! Good morning/afternoon/evening! If you are searching for something to read and see, check our graphic novel! Please consider subscribing and giving a like. Haven't decided yet, since there are a lot of life factors to consider. We (writer and I) participated in two Wt contests already, one was successful, another one wasn't, so maybe we will try again. Definitely with a new comic, I was presented with 5 ideas already xD one of them is a sci-fi... thriller kinda, we have this one brewing around for a long time now, so maybe that? Two others are spokon and one is humor fantasy action, so I am honestly still deciding x)
I am not looking forward to break my back again, so yeah, if you drill, don't forget to get up and do your exercises every hour :joy:

I started working to make my novel in tapas a Webtoon comic, and I brought an artists to draw it, this is my novel itā€™s on action fantasy and it should be a comic:

Chapter 1 will be released soon on webtoon

  1. Iā€™m doing it alone.
  2. If the deadline is tight, Iā€™ll submit an existing episode.
If I have more time, Iā€™ll create a new webtoon specifically for the award.
  3. Free category, slice of life.
  4. I focus on whether it fits the theme, is easy to read, and if I can shorten the time spent drawing.

This post is actually the first time Iā€™ve heard about a webtoon award.
Could you tell me about some famous awards?
Are there any awards that people living outside the hosting country can also enter?

I went and checked out 'Haunted House'. Love the dialogues, very witty. You could definitely enter with that one if you don't find time to make a new one.
I'm still weighing my pros and cons. If I can manage the time to make a new comic for the contest, it's probably going to be under the comedy category too. I don't think I'll have time to make 50 panel episodes like they require for the other categories.

Ooh, you seem experiences with these contests then! Would love to know the titles for your previous entries. Do leave links here. Which contest did you enter previously?
Sci-fi Thriller is a very interesting mix of genres. Would love to read it once it comes out!
The breaking back part is definitely my biggest worry, lol. I'm a one-woman team so I'll just to a comedy with romance subgenre if I enter. Don't want to sign up for more than I can handle.

The initial submission deadline is mid-May, if I'm not wrong. I see @Kelheor has already posted a link to the official rules.
Other than this one, Clip Studio Paint also holds Global Comic Awards every few months. They just announced another round in collaboration with Pixiv, you can go check that one out.

@fiddlyturtle the first one is from the Brain vs Heart contest, it's in the Brain Anthology of Webtoons now, the title is Everything You Need  The second was for the action contest, called Mean Old Me, unfortunately it haven't got anything, but I hope to pick the story up one day, I still love it :cry_01:
Haha yeah, I mean it about back breaking, plz do take care of yourself!

1 month later

I'm definitely joining the contest. been working on my comic with my artist for a while now. and if you didn't know, the submission period is about to open!

  1. working as a writer-artist duo
  2. making a new one, this contest just happened to coincide with when I was planning to post my webtoon so I just figured it's a good chance to get some eyes on it, even if we don't win.
  3. planning to join the action/fantasy category with my Cyberpunk Shonen webcomic.
  4. as the writer, I'm mainly nervous about my writing. worried that some people won't like my characters or story. but I know that whatever happens, I did my best.
