Screencap and repost it in an extra serie as "the lovely comments I lost but I do love them it's true"

True, a long sidebar might be annoying. but I must say I also like when there is a long list, jsut because I can say to myself "woah this list is so huge I can't wait to read all of it". I'm almost sure I'm the only one in this case, but I also read it on computer or tablet, it has less troubles than with a mobile, where a big list doesn't encourage really much to read

Will you ONLY be choosing the beginning of longstories to be on the daily snack? Could Scenes or episodes that can somewhat stand alone (such as a short conversation or entering a new location) also work, as I assume you can't post NSFW content on the daily snack (which for example the intro to a comic could be NSFW eliminating its chances of showing up on the daily snack).

I remember in their last live stream, they said it's not really a good idea to showcase on the app an episode that's picked from the middle of a long form series because it'll be out of context to new readers. There's a high chance that long form series' will only get picked once for the daily snack D:

You better be ready when it hits and get a kick ass first scene then!

I chose to have two series. One by pages and one by chapters (10-11 pages)
That could fix some of the issues with comments and likes.

That's one way I found that works for me so far!

I think putting an awesome scene from a long format in wouldnt hurt, like a fight scene or an emotional charged scene or one that got no text just setting up or compilation. We could argue 'spoilers' but for a new reader is out of context aaaaaaaaaaaand I only started watching Steven Universe because of the Garnet spoiler. I craved context and also it enticed me that the plot was more complex

Absolutely agree with this. For most series, it takes an out off context scene for me to get into it. The first chapter is usually where the artist is still trying to figure things out, and the art isn't the same. An out of context scene with great art or an emotionally charged scene is click bait for me. lol

plus I did read somewhere that to get new readers you need to expose them a few times with click to the comic until they read it. I can vouch for that! Witchy did that to name one off the top of my head!

I wouldn't rule out everything except the beginning for now, Like @CyndiFoster said the beginning can be uneven at the start and if a reader KNOWS it gets good later they're more willing to put up with an iffy start, I know I have.

When I first started posting on Tapastic, I posted my whole chapters as one epsiode. Over time, I decided this was not efficient (lack of regular updating) and that longer chapters would have to be split into parts (see chapter 6). I almost thought about separating OUT the pages to make it easier for new readers to read smaller chunks at a time to catch up to the story.

Overall, I'm pretty excited at the new changes happening! I gotta start looking at the Daily Snack more, now that there's long form content in it.

I think there will always be exceptions to my "rules" of featuring long form content. If I read something that really stands out and is striking, I'll for sure feature it on the daily snack. I don't want to discourage anyone.

If something really floors me in terms of art, writing and execution (and if it's age appropriate) then I won't hesitate to feature it.

I think that if a series has a random page with good information (I mean a good dialogue, like characters presenting viewpoints, debating about something) and the last panel is a cliffhanger, readers of the dailly snack could get interested to see what happens next, thus going to the comic page and reading other episodes. A page like this could be a good clickbait, even if it's not the first page (or first batch of pages) of a long form webcomic.

In addition to individual artists getting more recognition, I hope this will, at long last, remove the wrong perception that Tapastic is only/primarily for gag a days, and that serious story comics don't belong/aren't welcomed here. It's disheartening to run into readers who think that. It's even more disheartening to see creators on Tapastic who feel that way. I have talked to some longform/story-driven comic creators who feel vaguely unwelcome, like a child who feels their parents clearly love their sibling more. X________x

I'm cool with the spotlight banner thing. I mean, I like it being up for a week when I think of it being one of my own banners, but in reality, I'm often bored by the same banner for up to 7 days at a time and even though it's only 7 days, it can feel like a looooooong time for any banner to be up that long, especially from a reader's perspective.

I agree with what people are saying though about random, but informative pages getting featured. TBH there are just some series that can't get away with having a super informative first set of pages. I know I use myself as an example a lot, but there's just too much in Time Gate for me to even stuff it all into one chapter and still have people have a semi-decent idea of what's going on. It's one of those stories that really needs to be built up from the ground up and established over time, and I know I'm not the only one with a series like that. It just depends on how they write it, and they shouldn't be forcing all that information into one episode if it makes the story sound forced or artificial. Just something to take into account

i have a question, do you think tapastic could make a little section on each comic where it would give exactly what you are asking for, a quick summary of what the series is about. I currently don't have a "long running comic" but i am in the works of one and Id rather not have page one tell the reader what they are going to read. I think it would be better if we could give the reader a choice to get the summary or just go with page one, as if reading page one in a book. This would also help creators who have been doing this for a long time be able to make the summary without it being on episonde 70. i hope this makes sense, and i think this would help a bit more!

That's actually something interesting to be debated. There's always the description section for each webcomic, where you can write a synopsis of your story. A summary... it could give spoilers of the story, which could be bad, but it could help readers catch up faster to it. Buut that could discourage some of them to read the pages they missed, thus not being good neither to the creator nor to Tapastic - because it'd not generate likes, shares, views, then not generating ad revenue in the process, aka money, necessary money.

I think It's better for this subject to be debated on another thread, actually.

That's great, @michaelson ! It is exciting to see more long form comics in the daily snack. It definitely worked for me recently, when I found a new comic to subscribe because of it. And I think I have become quite the picky reader over the time.

I still wish there would be a better way to add those comics to the app more than just once. Luckily my own comic has a small intro sequence, but I am also planning to do an exciting intro for every new chapter that I am publishing. Maybe that is the way to go for us, who knows.

Some are asking for adult/mature comics to be featured (I am one of them). Could there be an 18+ section of featured comics at all? I am aware (and glad) that porn is not allowed, but what about comics with adult themes with dark/horror stories?
