How often your characters change attire

@ScampiCub something like that, I don't necesarily mean complicated palettes, I have a red hair character that always wear something pink, having this red-pink theme, but can wear other colors with it.

but i must now confess i made my character Steve Lawson a detective because i got sick of drawing him in uniform lol

Kamiko hasn't changed her clothes yet in the Rabbit and the Moon -- although by this rate she's ruined all of it fighting a demon wolf, so she'll have too.

She mainly dresses in lolita fashion and she's got a variety, but usually classical/gothic lolita attire.

Echo's on a journey, she only has her sweater, undies and pants. Same for Hrodland.
They only change clothes when they rset at people's places. But they'll get new clothes a little bit after. It's only because Echo wasn't prepared for a journey, or else she would have thought to take change or another outfit.

But because she wasn't prepared, she stinks a lot.

yup, my characters change clothes all the time, I like designing different outfits, so sticking to one would just get boring for me. Don't really have a defined palette though

With most day changes or when the occasion calls for it they'll change. Just like in real life, since all three of my series are contemporary. Though each character has a set style and colors they like, I'll design their outfits around that. And Tula has a closet of tops and bottoms that I'll mix and match so you'll see some recurring shirts every now and then if you pay attention.

Because my characters wear school uniforms, I'm always excited at any chance I can to get them out of their clothes when the scenes change. Sadly a complete outfit change doesn't happen often, so I make do with switching up parts of the uniform. Outside of the comic, I doodle my characters in different outfits often. It's very fun thinking about what kinds of fashions your characters would wear and why. And as for color palettes go, the clothes don't stick with certain color trends since the page colors change depending on the scene or spontaneously.

Jane the steampunk mummy changes outfits every day, but of course story time can skip quickly through a week or take three chapters to cover a single exciting day. Still, I did bring back the pink dress because it looks good and is fun to draw. I like to find historical references to use or build on.

Do to the glory of school uniforms, I can get away with usually drawing my characters in the same clothing. However, in some chapters (like the one I'm currently working on) they'll wear different clothes.

Every issue, primarily because each issue tends to represent a day.
Erin tends towards greens, Beatrice tends towards purple, and Jam tends to wear red.
Sammy and Craig tend to go black with an accent, Chel goes blue. Peebs and Dan both wear pink/salmon a lot.
Walt is blue. Connor is yellow or something to help make the yellow of his eyes pop.

I have Ajax in his armor most of the time. Ema gets her clothes changed pretty often though and she tends to stay in light yellows, whites and blues. Really it has a lot to do with when I think they'd change. Ajax is a soldier, he has a uniform, but Ema doesn't, and her clothes are regular fabric clothes so they only survive so long in the apocalypse. They throw away a dress because it was shredded by zombies, tear the hem off another for safe passage, switch her clothes because they aren't really practical and she changes because she was fed up with being dirty. I'm three chapters in and she's been through 5 outfits.
A lot of the side characters change clothes pretty often as well, since I think it sort of shows that time has passed, today is a different day.

Both yes and no. One main character never changes at all, the other one change every chapter.

My characters in my comic Stellar Persona pretty much only change clothes when they activate their super powers.Having the same outfits are just easier for me to keep up with.

. I've never been to big on outfits. I might have them in a different outfit on rare occasions for story purposes.

It depends on the character. Some always have the same outfit, but others tend to change around even if they do have a default outfit. (Like Acantha having overalls in chapters 2-3 instead of the apron, and some other designs I have in mind. Although this depends how much she can get away with stealing clothes so not often).

On the other hand I have characters that will appear later who have an extreme change of outfit every time they appear.

I mostly keep this in mind when I think about how characters see themselves and how they want to appear to others.

Refrence!!!! Have alot of refrence on hand and cloths become easier, and alot more fun!!!!
I hate drawing mens cloths. HATE it because most of my men characters aren't fashionable so i need to know "what does a average boy where" and all i can think of is tshirt and pants.

So i do alot of research. Ten clothing stores, mens fashion blogs, anything to see what them boys wear. ((As well as different cloths styles and what my characters would be most comfortable in.))

Girl i find funner because there is so much i love about cloths, both fashion and anti fashion wise. And high couture fashion <3 i just keep mountains of fashion refrence on file.

(Note about my previous picture every cloths I've drawn for that girl has a garden them. Flowers/bugs/ and fruits and veggies.)) Or my character lalita! I try to keep it subtle in the comic in the beginning but her clothing becomes verry space themed. (With multiple nods to Lalita's cultural heritage of India here and there)

But in all honesty if i didn't spend so much time drawing my characters in cloths I'd probably have a lot more pages drawn sweats

my characters are on the run for most of the story, so they don't change clothes very often, and when they do, it's addressed in-story. Additionally, I use their clothes to intentionally homage the Legend of Zelda stories, since my comic is a loose parody.

Squire:
-Starts out in pajamas, which quickly become a familiar green tunic
-It gets dyed white as a disguise, and doesn't quite wash out, thus becoming the 'white outfit' from the original games
-Later he is given a new red outfit from the bad guys, which he wears for the remainder of the series

Princess Rona:
-Starts out in a generic princess outfit similar to early Zelda/Princess Peach
-Undresses and uses it as part of a sheet-rope to escape imprisonment, is in a nightie for a few hours
-Grabs a robe from a church which she wears until she visits a friend, where she somehow gets a shirt and skirt (she may have left those clothes at the friend's place). This outfit has the same color scheme as Sheik from Ocarina of Time.
-The clothes get worn/tattered as they adventure, and she is given a fancy dress by the bad guys which closely resembles the dress from the later zelda games.

I'm very particular about the character's attire. I like to keep them in the outfit I originally design them for majority of the story. Unless something happens like they are going to bed, going to a fancy dinner party and other social occassions that require and outfit change. If I have the characters constantly changing clothes I will have a difficult time remembering how to draw that certain outfit without that outfit's concept.
