The rule is there to keep the proselytizing comics out, because those comics are a thing on Korean sites. (Think door-to-door "have you found Jesus"-ers... in webcomic form!)

Oh wow. These guys are pretty strict. It's nothing compared to webtoons on the Korean webtoon site where there's a webtoon in which a teenager kills his tutor and there's this big twist in the end. Of course, it's r-rated so you need to confirm your age and all but still. This is pretty strict.

I don't have any first-hand experience of LINE Webtoon, but I'd like to point out that there's a difference between having scenes of, for example, suicide in your comic, and glorifying or encouraging it. I'm pretty sure most of you aren't writing comics that tell the readers to go and kill themselves (at least I hope so).

Pushing examples to the extreme, "Maus" shows us the most terrible things the Nazi regime did - but it's not glorifying it, on the contrary.

As for the "include execution scene or corpses, causing a strong aversion" part... I feel like the placement of the comma here miiight be a bit wonky... Either they only want you to not post images of corpses that cause "a strong aversion" or they don't want any corpses at all because they cause a strong aversion. Honestly, I can't tell.

If you're talking about 후레자식, that comic is actually on Webtoons too! So the rules aren't as strict as they sound. I figure they're pretty much just covering their asses in case they need to take action. That, and less-than-stellar translation issues with the rules...

Well, I think I already broke one rule xD "include execution scene or corpses." My comic takes place in the afterlife so death is everywhere...

The one that made me scratch my head was " Glorify, encourage or promote violent acts against women and children."
Sooo...what about men?

I'm not sure how the gore rules work. I've seen a recent webtoon chapter feature a MC whose legs and arms were cut off trying to take down Zeus. There's no red blood, it's just black.

I suppose one can just wait and see if anyone reports them or something? xD

I broke it with my first page! xD Starts off with a child being sacrificed by a cult!

I am a bit worried that my webtoon has a lot of swear words though, and it represents a character. If I remove that it would be a bit hurting, like rewriting the story. Anyway, can anyone tell me if you've released webtoons as such?

Im a comic creator on webtoon, I was wondering if its okay to use the word whore on webtoon.
Because i have a scene were a girl calls another girl a whore.

Well, dick is allowed, and I've seen 'bad' words in other comics. But you could always censor a word if you don't feel comfortable about it. Like wh*re.

That said, webtoons can be strange with their policy.
A friend of mine had a panel in his comic with characters who weren't doing anything, but had their private parts covered with roses. But webtoons wasn't ok with that.
Yet another comic with a literal nsfw scene was perfectly fine and got a spot in the recommended once.
I think how strict webtoons is depends on which staff member is reviewing your comic.

They do enforce these policies. My comic was taken down by them over gore. Not ry sure because they didn't give me a reasosn. The scene was done very cartoonishly so I don't understand see why it was a problem but they took it down anyway. I think someone has to report you though. If someone prudish reads your comic you could have a problem.

It depends. My comic was removed for nudity, non-sexual, and not showing genitalia, but I was able to have it restored after doing quite a bit of editing. But that was one episode and it was only removed after being flagged. So someone saw my comic and reported it. The only problem I foresee is that yours is about content and context rather than just imagery. People are quick to report on Webtoon. Just make sure you clearly label triggers and don't be surprised if it's taken down.

For context on the nudity https://tapas.io/episode/174607979 only that episode and they removed the whole series not just the episode.

I may pull mine form there, it gets a bit odd down the line, fantasy genre so that 'unscientific' part doesn't feel very inviting plus it's horror, no women or children are spared form anything a man could be subject to.
Nothing gets 'glorified', quite the opposite, I'm trying to put across the likes of being shortsighted, selfishness, wanting shortcuts and giving up.
There's no gore, yet they seem petty based on some of the takedowns I've seen already.

@ChaoticConstellation They are absolutely ridiculous for that.
I'm going to read your comic, looks interesting.

Are you sure they didn't contact you? When my comic was taken down they emailed me and when I asked for clarification they provided examples and told me which panels to change and did help me get it to a webtoon-approved level of censorship. It was seriously petty and put me back like 3 days but I was restored and haven't had further issues.

they contacted you? When mine was banned in the Indonesian Language Webtoon 4 years ago, I wasn’t emailed at all and I didn’t know where to ask for clarifications, well, who knows, things probably changed.

This was sent to me the same day I noticed it was removed. That was earlier this year, maybe they've gotten better with their policies. I had to do like 3 revisions. It was webtoonsupport@webtoon.com with my case number as the subject line, and I only spoke with one person, who seemed to be assigned my case. It was annoying at first but they did handle it well overall.

I think it's really all the "how" you show what may be considered violating their policy. Like I have an Mature adult comic and it's pretty 'sessy' even all censored up. You know what's going on and initially I got a notification that my material violated their rules and they said I needed to censor it more. (I had the traditional pixelated blur on everything but it wasn't enough.)

I went back in and put solid black censor bars on things, but I did it in a cheeky kind of way and it met their standards and they made it viewable again on the web and the app.

Check it out here to see what I mean. Remember, this is a mature comic before viewing it.
