Is my art good enough to warrant a comic?

I'm gonna commit to working on my latest comic idea but I have fears my art might not be up to snuff. I know that you don't need the best art style to make a comic but I get real jealous about all these well drawn romance comics in the market.

Here's a few examples for my venators thing

The basic premise is basically a pastiche of Saturday morning cartoons where a group of 4 monster teens (a ghost, vampire, werewolf, and fish girl) live double lives as normal humans. By night, they go globetrotting to hunt down all sorts of crytids and monsters with the aid of a talking book and they crazy 30 year mentor. Every now and the they bump heads with a corporation that wants to take these creatures and do unethical experiments on them.

Not really something you see commonly on this platform but I'm hoping once it's done I get some interest on it.

You're always going to think that your art is not good enough to start - but you can't let that stop you! I did the same thing for years! I'm about 8-9 months into my first comic and I cringe at my chapters, but thats okay because that just means I've grown! If you go into your first comic expecting perfection it's never going to happen! You're going to get frustrated and most likely quit before you even get going. Go in knowing that you're going to grow and evolve as an artist and just enjoy the process!

And btw I love your style and the artwork you've created so far! Looks like it's going to be an interesting read.

People have done a whole lot of good with a whole lot less. Granted people have also done worse with a whole lot as well, but I guess it all depends on the story. Either way, you can make a comic even if your art wasn't this good.

There really isn't a barrier that can keep literally anyone from making a comic. I may not know much, but one thing I truly do understand is that when it comes to comics, there are no rules.

Making comics is more about the willingness to put in the massive amounts of work it takes to make them happen.

But I'd definitely read a comic with that art! It looks like a fun style, and a very fun concept! (but I've got a weakness for vampire-related things.....)

that said, these are characters alone in a void. how much practice have you had with backgrounds / environments? if you havent had much, id recommend trying some out before you get started, itll really help.

Excellent point! I'd suggest doing a few test pages, like a 3-5 page story to cut your teeth on, if it's your first go at comics. It helps feel out the entire process. Not just backgrounds but scripts, page management, panel arrangement, etc.

Your art looks great to me! And remember, you will improve as you progress through your comic because of all the practice. You could even come back when you’re finished to redraw the beginning chapters.

i have to a degree? I have two comic pages with backgrounds in them but i'm none too good with certain types that demand a lot of detail

You are one of those people. You know the girl who knows she looks amazing because she spends 8 hours a day in the gym. But she has to still ask her friend whether that dress looks great on her when she is shopping. Though she knows she would look amazing in a potato bag.

But I will cater to your ego. Yes, your art is amazing. Yes, your art deserves a comic. Yes, we want it. NOW.

So now, let me take out a whip and encourage you to produce that comic. Let's go, produce some visual art goodness!

ah, details overrated. the main thing is that youve got practice putting your characters in a space! looks like youre off to a good start
