I'm 34 and working on my first novel Jade Kingdoms! JK will be four years old on August 1st this year too. I began writing JK in order to heal from a personal experience in life and its done wonders for my mental health and improved my art so much. I am proud to call this novel my own, with my art thriving on its storyline and myths.
And its webcomic of short comics meant to hype folks up for my novel! I actually have another one that's a full comic but its up on my Patreon only.
Here's my twitter https://twitter.com/Hambonous2 Thank you for sharing! ^^
I'm in my mid-30s, and I'm currently working on my first webnovel. I've made a few start-and-stop attempts at creative writing over the years (some Ouran Host Club fanfic here, a rock opera about the Greek hero Theseus there), but I sort of gave up on my grander authorial aspirations when I was younger. Then the pandemic hit, and I had to change jobs to make more time for my kids, and now I have all this extra time and a whole bunch of creative energy that needed an outlet, so here we are.
My story is a BL set in an omegaverse AU, but I'm hoping to attract readers who might normally take a pass on that particular genre for various reasons. The story follows a group of characters living and working at a shelter for Omegas, and aims to grapple with some of the more problematic tropes inherent in the ABO genre. Content warnings for topics relating to abuse & mental health issues, but the overall focus of the story is on hope, healing, and processing trauma through therapy and support. I'm also making a point to steer clear of anything related to dubcon or glamorizing toxic relationship dynamics. We stan healthy relationships over here!
Hmm... If I have to trust my ID card, it seems... Indeed, it seems that I'm older than twenty-five
I'm self-employed as a day job, changing career after a few years in another one, and I've been writing--and role-playing--since... Uh... For years, do not count after so much time
I started at a very young age
May you all have success and happiness in your life!

This is an awesome thread ! I’m 30 years old and I’ve been drawing for 20+ years and creating characters for 19 years! It’s still my dream to become a Manga Artist and writer so right now I’m working on publishing my novel Captain Kagayaki which I wrote three years ago and started revamping it last year and this year! and soon to work on my manga 🏽
My novel Captain Kagayaki: https://m.tapas.io/series/Captain-Kagayaki/info1
just turned 26 actually! i'm not super active in the webcomics scene but i have been trying to get more freelance work and art comms (with...far more difficulty than i'd like but hey life)
pretty sure i've been drawing since i could hold a crayon but didn't start taking it seriously until around highschool and really putting myself out there in 2014 when i first joined tapas(tic). it's still a journey and luckily (hopefully) i can continue to learn grow and experiment as i keep doing this art stuff
my work is here:

I'm quite nearly 36 (just give me a month and I'll cash in those extra experience points) and I started my comic because this is the exact kind of story that I wished I had growing up. It's a love letter to my wife, a gift to my children, and an opportunity push myself out of my comfort zone so I can one day become the artist that I always wanted to be.
It's also been a wonderful experience creating alongside all of you. Starting a comic has been extremely nerve-wracking at times, but it's been a wonderful experience to work on my craft (while also working on my own issues of self-esteem and self-worth). I really dig this community and the support of everyone whose helped me thus far. I hope I can give more of those positive vibes back someday.
I'm 31.
I graduated at the tail end of the recession so I never got a real job and just sort of found myself slipping into freelance. I started making my first webcomic around 2015 and did that for a while. My big ones wrapped up last year. Since then I've been turning to writing, because drawing takes so damn long. I realize my time is short so I have to prioritize which stories to tell and I'm currently prioritizing writing in general, since I can finish a novel faster than a comic.
Anyway, all of my work can be found here. Most everything is completed except for my most recent on-going comic (that's wrapping up atm).
and my current novel which is a sequel to my first, Secunda.
Sup! I'm 26, and I've been revising my concepts since I was 11. Recently I've decided to do a final reboot of all my ideas in succession, each as another episode. I've been drawing from a very young age, and mostly just wrote scripts to go with my comics. But the comics ended up being really time-consuming, while my scripts turned out awesome. So I ended up writing novels, instead, with experimental formats.
My current series is Ghost Reaper, and it's four books in. Eventually, I'll make the switch from written to visual again, just not for a while.
29 over here. I have a typical busy assistant job and too much formal education. I finished my main story maybe four years ago and recently decided to put it out there. I tried to get a book agent at one time, but at the end of the day I just want to relax, write, binge read, and not stress over it.
26, turning 27 here! I'm an illustrator/animator who works with "institutional" stuff as a job and comics/commission on the side. I draw since I can remember and it ended up being my career and hobby.
And I have this little passion project, a Fantasy /BL webcomic that I'm trying to put on a steady schedule posting twice a month
Good thread. You folks are patting yourselves on the backs for being 'older,' well, I hope you don't pull something. I'm 67, and I wrote my first short story when I was in the third grade. Not to brag, just to say it's been an interest for many years. Some of my current works were begun decades ago. Life has a habit of getting in the way. I used to draw when I was young, but I lost the knack. Have concentrated on writing projects, music, and photography. I have recently completed my second novel. (Yay!)
Awesome idea! I envy those young creators who've already come so far in their journey as artists, and writers. But you can start anytime, and it's so important not to forget that!
I'm a 33 yr old artist/writer/copywriter. I didn't publish my first book until I was 31, and by the end of this year I'll have published 10 books, some novellas, some novels. It's been a wild ride!
Here's my serialized novel.
That's a pretty neat story. I guess the pandemic is both a blessing and a curse for artists.
I'm currently 28, about to turn 29 this month. I've been drawing since I was in kindergarten. I usually doodle little pictures in my school journal. I've always wanted to get my stuff noticed by some major publisher or animation company, but that is still a pipe dream. I've had my drawing gears in drive for a while, before the lockdowns and I don't really see myself stopping anytime soon. I've got stuff on deviantart which I've met a lot of good people on there that have the same ambitions as me.
So here is the main series which I have been working on since 2019.
Over the past couple year it's been on either four or five occasions where I was shamed for being a 30-something year old guy in a field of minors... Like I was doing this on purpose? I am just trying to work on ideas that had been going on since fifteen years ago. Glad to see there are so many well up in their professions age-wise yet still find time to pursue similar dreams! This thread definitely made me feel better for sure.
The story a buddy of mine and I had been working on since 2005 had been finished once, torn down for being written poorly, and then rewritten 1/3rd the way through before realizing the platform had too many inherent issues to be finished properly (issue was, it took 15 years to realize that lol as life hit us both hard over the years). Rather than give up, we shifted gears completely to write the "sequel" to the "prequel" instead, as it had a much easier to write storyline. This was how we though to get traction going, clearing the easier hurdle first, clear the harder hurdles once this one is fully completed. We started Harbinger: Infinity officially back in March this year and got way more done in way less time so we will continue for sure at this pace until it's finished by the year's end.
And by the way since everyone else did their intro, I'm 37/High School Education (Chemistry)
If people think 30+ is an age ppl should get out of the internet and stop getting in comic spaces, they're sorely mistaken. X3
30 is the REAL start of your adult life. Let this old LVL 36 lady tell ya.
I've been at it for about 20 years and my love for making comics never waned. UwU So I made it my day-job. (I was very lucky in my early 20s) and to make sure I'm not only sitting at my desk I work part-time at a hospital (food logistics).
I'm currently working on two series at once. Mainly on the one that's being published (last volume will be done this month! FREEDOM!)
http://tapas.io/series/FOCUS_101
and the other that's been finished basically, but I keep adding side-stories XD haha
....wait 25 is older?
Not sure how i feel about that.
Anyways, Star-Studded Salutations! Dialusion here, 25 year old artist focusing on character design while learning some logo, graphic and UX design on the side (UX specifically for a proper career). I've always been interested in the arts, more than my actual schoolwork which got me in trouble a lot. Got into comics mainly to practice character design and to tell the stories that have been in my head for years without waiting for someone to make them true for me. I'm looking forward to giving everyone's story here a proper and thoughtful read!
My big themes are desperation, the self and an emphasis in Cool, Cute and Creative works. My overarching project is called SUMMON! and it's a multi-story project revolved around Passion, Personality and Potential Manifesting Power. My current ongoing work is a part of this project: SUMMON! The Nameless Relic, a worldwide-treasure hunt for an illusively infamous prize lost to time.
Read it here!
God I wish I could pitch my work with half this much confidence and pizzazz... I'm still trying to figure out how to sound excited about pitching my comic, instead of apologetic for suggesting people read it. XD
Welcome to the thread, @Dialusion ! And believe me, 25 is only 'older' when you're comparing yourself to teenagers. I feel weird being one of the 5 oldest people in this thread. (38)
Realized I didn't post anything about my age. Whoops! I'm 31. I started really working on learning to draw a little after I graduated from college (around 24 years old). It's been a long road and I still have a long way to go, but I'm at the point where I can create comics that I'm pretty happy with!
While looking through the comments, I think that I might be one the oldest in the thread besides @sevenstarsofeightIam... I am a 44 year old freelance web graphic designer. I am a father of 5 and a husband seeking to finally break into my life long dream career of writing and illustrating comics/novels. I have dabbled in it in the past but I was too focused on a music career that I really wanted but forgot about my childhood passion which was DRAWING.... Now I have found my way back to creating stories and birthing a new mythos into the world... Hopefully, I can get things off the ground so that my children will be able to take these creations and make them their own, profit from them or both... With that said, check out my work and let me know what you think... I love feedback of any kind!!! I am also up for any future collabs if anyone is interested....

I think Im still the second(or third) oldest member here 42
I always says my real age cause I feel responsible towards younger people than myself (not only towards minors) and I want people feel safe when knowing they are talking (or avoiding) an adult, specially in this entertainment business.
tbh its also stressful for me and I want avoid unnecessary stuffs, Im not even that social anyways and that age wall keeps me safe somehow of being approached by others 8D
