So much old and newish anime.

@TheLemmaLlama oh, I am not a gamer at all, the only stuff I know is my SO made me play some of HoMM a bit and well, that's too old school for me and I am most definitely not a fan of TBS games xD the music is great thought and so many awesome covers indeed! There was Paul Romero's HoMM live concert last year I think, unfortunately I couldn't go, but I would absolutely love to.

@NickRowler honestly omake style comics like this also wound up being one of those things to inspire me coz i always was amused by the balance of serious story and then silly and maybe sometimes ooc side comics and that illustration is really nice makes me want to visit the beach again :coffee_love:

@TheSingularitySeed you were not kidding about how pretty this comic is! reading through it now and i love the atmosphere~

@Katzalcoatl old cartoons have definitely got a hold on me (always tempted to do a rewatch xD) but edgerunner sound familiar i'll have to look it up

@Aeneas1 i always remember having to read shakespeare in school tho there was also a book of collected works we have at home that i'd thumb thru when curiosity struck and even tho i never read the narnia books i remember how mesmerized i was by one of the movies that had aired on tv once

Bugs, my friends, my city, rivers, trees, buildings - god i love architecture so much - my cats, my houseplants, the sky. I know I sound like a hippie and yes I do get inspired by media too, but I think it's good to highlight other means of inspiration that also encourage healthy stuff like going outside and talking to your loved ones, other hobbies also are good means of inspiration, like gardening and music and videogames ( i once got a whole ass story concept out of animal crossing outfits).

I think we put parts of oursleves and our lives into our work anyway (I kinda copy-pasted one of my friends into my story by accident) and yknow talking to someone irl about your story ideas can feel really nice and help you get a perspective on your ideas.

I can give you some anime about art and the struggles of art and writing and any creative endeavor. These ones inspired me a LOT when I was in my low point.

Sakurasou No Pet Na Kanojo is about a normal guy who gets thrown in a a dorm called Sakurasou, where all weird, chaotic art students are. In the middle of colorful cast involving a world-famous painter, a genius animator, a writer and a shut-in programmer, he remembers that he also had something he wanted to make. This series made me cry a lot because of how realistically it portrays failure.
Definitely recommended to EVERYONE here

Blue Period (read the manga the whole thing is about ART)

Bakuman (same as Blue Period)

A Sister's All You Need (this one helped me a lot with my novels despite it being WHACKY and WEIRD AF) if you wanna watch this one watch it in dub, and no matter what, don't close the first episode until the first five minutes passes

It took Mythologies, Historical videos, Music, and Manga Artist/Author to give me the boost and inspiration to make a story and comic of my own; "Mukhtar". Here they are:

Mythologies:

Historical videos:

Even some historical armors:

Musics that inspires me to draw a comic and make a story:

And finally a manga called kingdom by Yasuhisa Hara:

The manga especially is what inspired me to draw these panels:

I have a rather huge list of influences.

The first is HunterxHunter! For it's well thought out power system and wonderful chatacters.

The second would be Redwall, It really formed how I view adventure stories.

Another would be Bone! I just love this comic, it is exactly everything I love. Have this super deep lore and terrifying beasts hidden under a very cutsie ascetic.

I cannot say enough how much this have influenced me over the years. They are absolutely amazing. ;-;

Yesssss! Redwall is what first made me aspire to be an author.

28 days later
  • Jojo's Bizarre Adventure for the battle system. I wanna call That Stick Figure Isekai inverted Jojo? The different artstyles you see with stick figures resembles the "fighting spirit". It's all about how these Isekaiers control their bodies. Also how they do arcs.
  • Diary of a Wimpy Kid is obviously a big one.
  • The Disastorous Life of Saki K. I took the concept of the main character meeting other cliches.
  • The Bible and Archbishop Fulton Sheen's ideologies.
  • The concept of "Kenosis" where God filtered out his holy side to become human. I thought I'd explore that where characters who believe they're the protagonists of their respective universes become what every character is at their core... a stick figure. The notebook is supposed to be the ultimate equalizer.

This is always such a big question for me there are so many things!!
but whats helping me with my burnout right now is looking at Osamu Tezukas art
I can definitely see how he inspired so many people

honestly goals to have as much range as he did

Avatar the last Airbender.

Shonen anime.

sonic the hedgehog kind of.

(it’s gone now but I once had two characters posed for valentine’s day like Korra and Asami.)

To me it is all about the content and story. From childhood the way I perceived art was in a vivid form that was directly related to my daily life experiences (the highs and lows), interesting observations of the world, the meta narratives of the world (global order and suffering), oral narrations, the movies and novels that affect me. Among the novels, I'm fascinated by the classics as the time, scenes, context, and story is set in a time that is not relatable. Reading classics is boring to me if not for the vividness I can add through my imagination. My first realization of how reading affected my art was when I was 9 and I read Animal Farm. My father was into political science and he made me understand Orwell's intention of using animals to talk about bigger politics. This extrapolation was something that expanded my imagination and gave form to my thoughts - it was magic to me. So, when imaginations and thoughts run out, I usually try to grab a novel and watch some movies awaiting the thoughts that flow during and after.

As a writer I'm inspired by R.A. Salvatore, Hirohiko Araki David Eddings, Naoki Urasawa, J.R.R. Tolkien, Ken Ishikawa, Shotaro Ishinomori and Eichiro Oda. And many more.

I don't necessarily have certain inspirations. But I go on pinterest and look at manhwa panels some times just to get an idea of some cool things that could work in my novel.

But here are some manga stories/manhwa stories that inspire me sometimes

  • God Of Highschool
  • Omniscient Readers Viewpoint
  • Hunter x Hunter
  • Dragon Ball Z

I'll update this if I find more things I get inspired by, whether it be TV, movies, artists (art and music), etc

Comics & mangas are not my biggest inspirations (besides Togashi & Horikoshi -- I studied their panelings a lot while reading their works) I'm most inspired by movies, and very keen at art films (or great movies in general) watching analysis videos & commentaries. Ever since I watched Tarantino's Pulp Fiction & its DVD commentaries... It makes me look at movies in a more in-depth level. All in all, the love of inner-workings of movies helps me level up my visual storytelling. I'm glad I can use a lot of movie techniques into my drama focused comic :v:
