Thomas is an over-enthusiastic rookie policeman who likes detective novels and dancing!
(But between you and me, he's horrible at dancing. He's got two left feet. :joy: )
(Forgot to add: The artist for the drawing on the right is @cjspiethillustr! Absolutely love it.)

Just droppin' in to say I misread this as "Tell me about your Orcs!" I was genuinely interested too lol

I think your style is super cute! And I had no Idea that old cartoonist would listen to Bach. That's interesting.

I love talking about my OCs :heart_02:

My best boi is Damien  I really like how, from Jake’s POV, he’s almost too sweet and perfect. But, to balance that out, from his own POV, he’s a bit of a tangled mess in his head. Not a heavy mess, just a bit of a squirrel mess. And he’s way too smart for his own good

Meanwhile, Jake has quite a bit more anxiety but is also more down to earth. I love writing his super lame sense of humor :see_no_evil: but also the subtle shifts in his mood. He’s an HSP for sure, and it’s both really gratifying and complicated to try to make sure that comes across in the story.

As for music, they’d battle (gently) over the radio for various oldies stations (and Jake would win )

My newest pic - Jake (left) and Damien (right)

Eric Carpenter (Center) is the leader of the Typhoon Squadron (left to right). Eric Carpenter was chosen to be the leader of the Typhoon Squadron of Leadership due to his outstanding service in the U.S. Marines. He's also one of the most powerful superheroes in the Amazement Universe. His (and everyone else's) powers include:

Water Manipulation
Water healing factor
Creating constructs of virtually anything out of water
Enhanced durability
Water Levitation
Ability to summon squids

Name: Saul Torres

Age: 15

Race: Latino (Human)

Bio: Your average joe who is very optimistic about life. Even when his life flips his whole world upsidedown LITERALLY. When he's not busy trying to stay alive with joining the group known as The Dark Children of The Night, he spends most of his time working around the house doing boring chores and feeding his pet rabbits, Fluffy and Oreo. He also prefers any bottle up feelings to himself. Even if they're depressing and almost suicidal but thinks it's better to keep them to himself rather than bring out to be the center of attention by his friends or loved ones. They're his own battles that he has to face one day.

Name: Sara Sanstia

Age: 421

Race: Transilvanian Vampire (3rd generation)

Bio: After her family estate was raided and burned to the ground during the 500 Year Civil War, Sara brought it upon herself to save the southern city so no would have to go through what she and family did. Losing their home and losing a sibling that wasn't even born yet. However, her sisters, Andrea and Miyoko constantly remind her that do it always on her own as she would come back home with more cuts, bruises, and even scorched skin. But it didn't matter to so long as she's protecting her city that she'll one day inherit from her family. She can't stand by and watching others suffer. But they were right. She had to form a group sooner or later. She formed a formidable group from other neighboring cities that brought an end to The 500 Year Civil War. So formidable and notorious people fear that they'll be next for utter their name. The Dark Children of The Night.

This is Salice Nabiaty Cuorre, or Sal for short. She is naive and her cloistered upbringing renders her limited in the ways she perceived things outside her house. She inwardly questions the need for rules and social norms. She may come across as spacey and weird. Her childish curiosity gets her into trouble sometimes. Oh, and she also knows three languages and makes comparisons of new things to books. Here's a chibi version of her.

Bestest boi? Personally, it's this guy. Duren Leaugood Lidelse. He appears gentle and encouraging.

An acquaintance of mine likes this guy, Sei Marasigan. He's a Constable but he's in the lowermost of the pecking order despite his physical abilities because of many factors like othering and his lack of proper education. Nevertheless, he prides himself in being a constable. He has a bit of a savior complex and also being a people-pleaser.

I love writing everybody, even the side characters :cry_02:

Though, if I had to narrow it down, I'd say my MC Blair is bestest boi for me, because he’s this goofy, cars-and-pop-music kind of airhead and literally everyone else around is the exact opposite lol. (And I have a bias towards goofy, “fake it ’til you make it” MacGyver type characters in my media in general, so it stands to reason…)

He’s got a lot of growing to do, and I’m having as much fun watching him change as time goes on, as I am with him now while he’s naïve~

Some creator notes on Elrekia "Rekki" Lune...

So Rekki is a fun character to write because the rest of the cast were all designed around her with the aim that you'll get a unique and amusing dynamic with every character you put her with. She can be comedic because she's kind of hilariously dense, but she can also be a sort of Basil Fawlty-esque "straight man" to sillier characters where you can see her intense frustration and desire to just get on with it already.

The basic idea of her character is that she's a typical shounen manga protagonist personality; impulsive, follows their heart, pursues power both for personal goals and to protect close loved ones, but she's become an adult woman and discovered that people don't forgive you for collateral damage and think it's cute and heroic to act that way if you're an adult, and especially female. So Rekki is this highly strung mess, half the country hates her and she just wants a simple solution to all of it, because she's impatient and frustrated by complication.

At the current point in the comic, you're not necessarily meant to like Rekki, so much as to want her to be better, to sort her life out. She's largely isolated, she's finally come to the realisation that her boss/crush is an utter :poop: heap, but she's stuck now because she's isolated (Urien has effectively isolated her by being extremely controlling of her time and putting her on a pedestal to distance her from other knights, make her an object of envy rather than camaraderie). Like a lot of young women who seek the attention of an older man, thinking they're uniquely mature and not understanding the huge power imbalance or how they're being manipulated because they're inexperienced, she committed before she was emotionally ready. I find that older readers are often more sympathetic towards Rekki, because with the benefit of hindsight, a lot of us realise we were in friendships or relationships with toxic people when we were younger, but when we were that age, we thought we were way too smart, mature and savvy for it to happen to us.

Well, today she's having her worst day ever, but she's also met a healer...

Let's see... I'll talk about two oc's of my upcoming project!

So the main character, Danivere Wayslaende, is the ruler of the Land of Soot in the story. She has trouble caring for her people and rules like a dictatress. Danivere is a rash individual, easily angered due to her temper.

Danivere also doesn't care about the potential consequence of a coming war due to her actions. That is why she is put down by the Alpha king and sent to jail to reflect at her behaviour.

The story shows how she escapes and reclaims her status and power, but also her growth as a person.

Danivere does have a few hobbies however. She likes good food, dancing and singing (people do close their ears because she sings terribly). Dani hates Earl Grey Tea.

And this is Artimedes Primevale:

Artimedes is very different from Danivere. He is a pacifist; he hates war and tries to avoid conflict by fighting. Artis is caring for his family and rather stoic. He does like to taunt and prank people when the moment is right.

In the story, he is the one who sends Danivere to jail after beating her in a duel. He doesn't do this because he wants to get rid of her, but because he wants her to learn fromher faults and avoid a war.

Also they don't stand each other. Well Danivere can't stand him atleast. Also Artis does like Earl Grey.

Also I almost forgot! Dani's name was partly inspired by this song:

Vainglory is an extremely complex character. it doesn't necessarily come across all the time in her comic, but she has a deep psychology that I spend far too much time thinking about. some examples of aspects of her personality:

  • she is diagnosably hypersexual, which can cause serious problems for her
  • she is also non-monogamous and at any given time is in several concurrent relationships, each of which is equally important to her
  • she has a ridiculously good memory - but only for people and ideas. facts will often slip her mind and she doesn't have a great sense of direction
  • despite being quite proud of her body, she can only accomplish this through some serious compartmentalization: she does not like being a tiefling (to such an extent that it's tantamount to body dysmorphia) and can only think of her tail and horns and skin color as "hers" and not as "characteristic of a tiefling." if anyone alludes to the fact that she is a tiefling, she will either lash out or shut down, depending
  • she is the bishop of a corner religion, and bases her entire philosophy and worldview around the religion, which is fortunately pretty fitting for her personality
  • vainglory wears her heart on her sleeve at all times and is completely earnest in her emotions - but she spent most of her childhood as a thief and con artist and is a great liar when she needs to be (though she doesn't like it)
  • for all her flaws, she is still a fundamentally good person and tries her best to do right by everyone. I find this extremely important to a likeable protagonist (as opposed to a likeable antagonist)

That sounds really interesting. I like spin you put on the trope, and it sounds really good story wise. And I connect with that too. I see the power imbalances a lot in 'younger aimed' stories which honestly turns me off to the toxicity. I'm glad you are making commentary on that.

I love complex characters and breaking down their psychology. I can see how hand that is to make it come across in the comic. I struggle with the same thing with a few of my characters who also hare rather deep and complex. But, I'm sure that with time, you can slow reveal that.

what I plan to do is make a more narrative-driven comic covering a lot of her internality, since brief joke comics isn't really enough to handle it. it'll be called Vainglory: Love Stories and it's being scripted

I love talking about my OC's to a fault . It is almost all I ever think about, and I'm sure my partner has gotten sick of hearing about them at this point .

I'd like to tell you a little bit about my upcoming character Kir'aara from my comic "United We Stand".

She is of a species that has nearly gone extinct on the planet she lives on. Rumors have spread, which has lead to the further downfall of the species. Despite the poor treatment she receives she does the best she can, and tries to be a part of society while also hiding to stay safe from predators who'd rather see the species disappear altogether.

The logical reaction to her species current situation should perhaps be fear. However Kir'aara is a kind soul, and cares for others whenever possible, and stays strong and independent despite the clear hate displayed towards her. She's stubborn and will not back down if she's faced with a challenge.
Before her life takes a drastic turn (Comic Plot) she cares of certain animals used for transportation. She's strong and manages these large animals by herself daily. One of them are of a special kind, and has taken a liking to her.

I am now noticing that I'm not that good at describing things. Which I guess is the reason I made it into a comic and not a written story . I still hope it's understandable !

The main character of Glints Saga: Dove, Nixe Fulton, plays a common role in magical-girl stories. Not the all-loving heroine, not the brainy or brawny teammate, not the love interest even—she's the Dark Magical Girl, the rival counterpart to the heroines.

Nixe is someone who's convinced that people aren't capable of truly overcoming their innermost flaws. The role she takes in the events of the story leaves her deeply conflicted, but she believes what she's doing will ultimately improve both her own life and the lives of everyone else in Garden City. Her story is one of highs and lows, but perhaps she might come to fly free of the burdens she carries.

And contrasting Nixe is the leader of the magical girls protecting the city, Ribbon. Though Ribbon is willing to fight when others are in peril, she's always trying to reach out to Nixe, holding a hand out to her. All-loving heroines get stereotyped as shallow characters, but like many of them, Ribbon has depths to her friendly nature that are explored in the story.

The other magical girls also have their moments as well—Nimbus's feelings towards Nixe, Machina's interactions with her, the plotline surrounding Bounce, and even the almiran Outsider who comes to fight alongside the heroines. Basically, it's good ol'-fashioned magical-girl heroines...albeit from a bit of a different perspective.

My main girl is Aina, in her early twenties and having lived through one apocalypse too many already. Due to her experiences she's scarred emotionally and physically but she doesn't let that get in the way of her caring for other people, no matter how much pain the association brings when it reminds her of what she's lost. She loves hoarding books and knowledge from before the end of the world, can handle herself in a fight, and is more than capable of standing up for herself

I have other OCs that I can talk about from the main cast but I don't want this to turn into a massive post

I love talking about my OCs that I hardly get the chance to talk about it with anyone.

How much do you like writing your characters?

I like writing them quite a bit since I had them for a very long time. I have three main characters but I talk about the one that has the most screen time so far, Leticia. I do have a hard time writing her since she is the complete opposite than me and all I want to do is slap her on the head for the silly thing she does sometimes. But most of the time, I do enjoy writing Leticia because she can be pretty interesting on how she interacts with certain characters. She can be nice but then flip when you start being rude and mean to her. However, Leticia is a "shoot first, ask questions later"person which does get her in trouble a lot.

Who is your best-est boi/gurl/other? (to clarify, who is your fav.)

I don't have one since best girl/boy switches depending on where I'm writing or thinking about.

What kind of music do you think fits your Oc?

For my second main character, Chantel. I always thought of her as listening to rock music with some dash of K-Pop on the the side.

You know, "Insignificant Otters" got so hot so fast, we really didn't have time to plan a backstory for our dear otters Emma and Kevin. At some point, we will be going into a flashback to show how they met on the Sun-n-Fun Windjammer Cruise, and DIDN'T fall for each other. Anyways, Emma is a nerdling otter girl of 21, still in college in Hawaii, and took the cruise to get away from studies and stress. She doesn't have friends, or a boyfriend, as the male otters find her too nerdy and intelligent for their tastes. She loves D&D, RPGs, and video gaming, as well as comics, anime, sci-fi/fantasy, and all the other things that make nerds so awesome. She's super-intelligent as well, and was studying to become a video game designer before all this happened.

Kevin is also 21 and a nerd in every sense as well. But he's also a bit of a lech and lusts after Emma madly. He was on the cruise to meet girls. Nothing else. He loves to party and have a good time, unlike Emma who prefers peace and harmony. He's a master video game champion of all the classics, and enjoys strategy games especially, like Go, chess, etc. He's heavy into anime and fancies himself an otaku. Loves roleplay and cosplay as well. He didn't go to college and preferred to get his education through the library after high school - so he's a potpourri of information, especially math, science, and world history.

As this is an alternate universe of course, one could just say this world would have come about if otters finally rose up and conquered mankind - (and you know damned well you all dream of this day, so don't deny it.)

Thanks for allowing us the intro!
