What job do you work at other than create comics?

When I'm not working on my webcomic I am a Graphic Designer and I do a little freelance on the side. I don't do too much freelance though cause it cuts in on my webcomic time. Even though more work = more money I would prefer to spend time doing what I love which is making comics.

yeah same I'm at medical leave from Rhode Island School of Design and honestly I don't know if I'm going back? My other choice would be to go to University of Illinois at Champagne and study psychology lmao.
Tapastic seems like an incredibly artistic community imo. Like at comicfury it doesn't really seem like people had as much art backgrounds as over here?

I work as a programmer for a software company. I actually attended school for digital painting. I used to also write chess blogs professionally. I guess it was about time all 3 elements came together

Been out of college for almost a year now (I majored in Studio Art) and I guess you could say I'm a freelance illustrator? I've just landed my first illustration job. Also I take commissions. Allegedly.

I work as a digital artist for a facebook gaming company by day and freelance for a comic company doing social media arts as well as covers (from time to time). When I'm not doing those two things I'm trying to work on my comic

Studied animation for 3 years. My portfolio is for storyboarding.

But currently i work as a cashier selling cigarettes at a grocery store.

Did my degree in 3D animation years ago, spent almost three years in two different animation company, low pay, and abusing my passion into mindless drone work, worked 9am-11pm from Mon - Sat so i quit in the end.
Tried something new, approach the sales world to increase my communication skills; was selling graves to people (yes... selling a piece of land for you to sleep eternally)
Now im back to study, taking Masters in Business Administration; part time as travel agent; free travels, and trying to get my hands in Vape business with my friends.
Oh i do freelance too; graphic and web designs

I almost considered going into psychology or something but my adult friend on facebook said that psychology field of work is tough and I'm guessing that it's the job opportunity, which scares me.

I'm in my final year of undergrad, but I'm spending it abroad so I'm no longer physically in Champaign, but I'm applying for gradschool at UIUC and UIC. Hbu? >w>

I used to work on an animation studio for the past three years but then I decided to shift from full time to freelance so that I could focus more on creating my own webcomic. I still get some work from them but not so much as before. So currently I'm a freelance illustrator that do some random character commissions. (I'm open for commissons as well!).

Do you think going to art school is worth it if you do freelance? sorry i dont mean to be confrontational i'm just trying to think things through because idk if i want to go back to risd or transfer to university of illinois xD it's quite a struggle for me weighing these thru

I personally didn't go to an art college myself. I'm actually a computer science major who decided to chose art as a profession. I took a short course on multimedia arts here but it didn't help me much. I was only able to improve my art skills drastically when I worked on the studio and doing some self-studying.

So regarding to your question, I can't actually say whether it's worth it or not. If you live in our country, I'd definitely say that it's absolutely not worth it because most art schools here tend to focus more on business rather than actually teaching students and their tuition fees are absolutely outrageous. Most of the artists here on Philippines are freelancers since there isn't that many studios here to get work and most of them didn't really go to an art college.

That's why I've been travelling so much this past few years.
I've been in London, then Vancouver Canada and now back to France:

I always work on my comic during my lunch breaks and in the train back home. Drawing on an Ipad is the only way I can make it work!

I do have a "full time" wife at home, and I wouldn't dare spend this precious time home to work on my stuff!
