What makes your love story adorable?

It’s a simple question: in you novel or comic (if you have a romance in it) what makes the love story adorable? What moment/scene between your characters makes the reader (or even you in particular) go awww?

I'm going deep into getting characters that aim for friendship that eventually, after a good while, turns into something more romantic angle. Like I'm not writing a romance story, but I want the romance that is there to have em be fully friends sharing things about themselves and being very comfortable with eachother until they recognize nearer to the end of the book that what they were missing with past relationships is what they currently have with eachother.

But this is all so late in the story I don't know if I'll ever get to drawing it

Probably when the love interest wanting the main character to eat him and drink his blood, or when the main character prayed for dead lover to take him so they will be together. Very romantic, it melts your heart in instant. I am the master of romance

Joke aside, I have none of sweet romantic moment in my story (maybe yet). No, I don't write and I don't like romance as a main genre; I also don't have interest in pursuing a romantic relationship.

In my opinion, an adorable love story is when it is not too in my face (like kissing or saying how they love each other every chapter, sorry but PDA is disgusting for me but it's everywhere in romances), true to the character, and realistic/relevant (we don't need three minutes hug or romantic banter in the middle of time rushed battle).

Simple is better for me; may it be them working on something they don't usually do together, playing games, cooking/shopping/babysitting together, thrown in an embarrassing situation together, or just playing pranks on each others. It does not need to be explicitly or overwhelmingly romantic and dramatic to sound adorable.

And the most important point: The right ship will makes everything adorable by default

I've actually just started the romance portion of my comic! One of my favorite cute scenes will be coming in a month or so! I absolutely can't wait because I think I've got some pretty great ideas for my main couple and there will be a second couple revealed later hopefully even better!

Without giving too much away, I think what makes them adorable is their little grumpy banter. They're not really mad at each other, just making jokes. I think it shows your close if you can make jokes like that. It's also just cute and playful.

Sky-Garden: Genre: High Fantasy Medical drama. The Romance is super, super background, it is not the point of the story, it is just something that happens to be there. The male character is the female's assistant, so he is always going, super...super out of his way to ensure she's still eating, sleeping, taking care of herself and things of that sort, he's a panic-strife mess and is always worried about her. It is adorable though when a romantic moment happens because of how much he cares about her, how much he does for her and things of that sort and it is reciprocated.

Deathblooded: there is no romance, just skipping right past that. If you like horror and gore, go for this one. Genre: High Fantasy Horror this book makes Game of Thrones and the Saw movies look G-rated.

Rain: Genre: Sci-fi Futurism romance the whole premise of this book is that even super, super far in the future, the two characters still got roped into an arranged marriage for the betterment of their parent's companies among a few other reasons, but they end up being perfect matches for each other despite how drastically different they are. it's cute in that, they both go so far out of their way to learn as much about the other as they possible can.

Paradise Academy: Genre: Low fantasy Magic College Slice of Life there is some romance in this novel, but it's kind of a side-story, but this novel has all sorts of representation of LGBT+ people and how a story can have LGBT+ characters, but does not have to be romantic, it's a bit of a found family vibe, so it's a family love instead of a romantic love. Plus the MC is POC so allowing to have all of these elements of that culture in the story, at least in my mind, makes the story feel rich.

Shrouds and Stilettos: Genre; High Fantasy LGBT Romance my last novel, it is a LGBT+ romance fully. The two characters are princes whose kingdoms are at war with each other, one of them finds the other wounded and on death's door and...despite the war, the prince decides to help the wounded one and the wounded one falls for their rescuer instantly...so the two like to use their romantic ties to each other to try to end the war.

In my manxman romantic fantasy, one of the men is from an evil family and is pretty morally ambiguous himself, but he develops feelings for the MC prince against his own will and can't bear to watch his family take the prince down.

I love the point when they are locked in the dungeon, she has to climb to get a camera off the wall. Then he catches her when she jumps on the broken ribs even though he doesn’t have to. It gets me every time

I'm not really a fan of cutesy fluff, so the less in-your-face the couple's showing of affection is, the more likely I will like it.

I suppose I like characters admitting that they can't imagine going onward without their love interest at their side, and then they do a good forehead touch.

That to me is the perfect balance of honest feelings and affection without being over the top.

I’m not for the “I love you” in chapter two romance, but I have a romance in my book: The Longest Spring Break in NonHuman History. The MC and her LI first establish a tenuous friendship that eventually grows into something more. I think what makes there love story adorable is how their relationship progresses.

In the beginning their relationship is kinda competitive and they are constantly keeping score in the form of who owes who a favor. But then, at the very end of the trilogy, (and this is a small spoiler), they have progressed far beyond this. However, as a joke, the LI calls in his last favor when he asks her to marry him.

But I think what makes them super cute is just the fact that they help each other grow. They are different people, and they bring out the best in each other. (Plus, of course, they banter. )

People see my animal characters cuddling or caring for baby animals together and they think it's kawaii af.

Until they start killing eachother with knife fights and guillotines but you know it's just kinda like two sides of the same coin.

I'm still arguably an amateur, and surely, people take blushing to only mean they're blushing from their crush. (when in reality, people blush from all sorts of stuff. Like I blush from...living. lol) There are quite a few moments with blushing in my comic, but it really isn't me trying to take a short cut, it's just a specific character's trait.

But I like the dynamic my two main boys have (tall shy boy, short popular boy). I feel like I managed to take a somewhat cliche dynamic and make it its own thing. Where they feel like real people. A wallflower, and a popular boy both taking on basic high school stuff together. They both look out for each other in their own ways, and I really enjoy writing it.

So I guess...the fact they feel like actual friends is what makes it cute? Turns out I'm bad at explaining things with words. haha

I love writing cute fluff, so you've come to the right address. There's different ways Characters show love, so it'll depend on the Character what may be cute for them. Some show physical contact, some will more easily show their love in words.

I mean, banter is always fun, but for my characters I think it's the moments where they are opening up to each other or the moments where they are doing something positive without thinking about it for the other person are cute moments.

For example, in one of my latest episodes Joey unconsciously stops teasing my MC so he won't drop his camera, because he knows that'll make him upset and later on in the story they start getting so comfortable that they start having more physical contact unconsciously, so hugging, grabbing each other's hand when they're exited, stuff like that.

I’m pretty sure my writing style could be classified as “cute fluff” my favorite moments are when they’re communicating - taking the time to make sure the other is comfortable, taking a moment to make sure they’re on the same page. To me (and some readers), it shows the depth of the caring and the desire for a solid relationship foundation
